I like his single...his music is very pop-rock, radio friendly.

Everytime I put on a different song, I get this back in my head and have to turn it back on.

Thanks for that - AI5 was a big let down for me after AI4 but he really does have a nice recording voice

The clips are so great. I love "Home." Wow, this guy's gonna be huge. WOW! Totally! Out of the 4, "Home" is my favorite. It just sticks out. Definitely single-worthy. November 21 is so far away!

The songs are just ok to me. Nothing special. I wish all the best for him, though, he surely has a nice voice.

I am surprised at the overwhelmingly positive response to the songs I have seen...some from people who were hating on him last week. Gives me hope this might be good when I get around to listening to it.

I like tone of his lower register... When he starts to go up high, he sounds like a goat. "Home" is nice.

I think I'm in love.
And I'm THRILLED that he didn't get stuck making a Bo Bice record.

I think it'll sell 3-4 million. Clive went out and bought him a good looking band. Maybe he will get rock radio play. I haven't listened to the clips but I gather it's 3DD and Nickleback territory. Therefore, it'll sound like everything else on Rock with maybe a singer with a better voice. Pop and HotAC will eat it up. Clive saw a marketing niche with this guy and will put a lot of money behind him. Let's see if he can break him outside Northamerica.

I think he will do well and get lots of play on Pop or AC. I wouldn't count on too many rock stations though with a manufactured band that didn't play on the cd.

Eh, they are okay...nothing we have not heard before though. I thought this album was supposed to be groundbreaking? They are going to be HUGE though. Good looking guys, poppy rock songs, they will be all over the pop and AC stations. I don't think ROCK will embrace them at first, I mean this is a manufactured band....it is like the rock version of N'Sync or something, and that just turns me off a bit.
Chris has an awesome voice though and I agree Home is by far the best. They should of released that one first. DAUGHTRY will be the next Nickelback and will sell tons of cd's.

But we have a perfectly good Nickleback already.

Mikers - It looks like we may have two. Plus, didn't the guy from Nickelback help write a song on this cd? I actually really like Chris, but I am somewhat underwhelmed by the four songs I heard. It may have to do with all the press I was reading that built it up. It is kind of like when critics rave about a movie and I then have this grand idea of it, but I end up leaving the movie disappointed. Sometimes it is best to just not say anything at all.
I just hope some of the other songs are a little more edgy, for lack of a better word.

These song clips are great. In fact, his vocals are better (and less goaty) on the other songs than they are on the lead single.

Yep. He had a Radio Interview the other day for G105 in Raleigh. He is playing a Concert at NCSU, which seats 10,000. He told the listeners that they better hurry up and buy tickets, because he was used to selling out 22,000 Venues. Forget your AI buddies already?
He also told the N&O Newspaper in Raleigh that he is hoping to go Triple Platinum. Aiming high.
I thought the songs were OK. Pretty generic. They did fix his vibrato a bit though. He'll probably get good radio play on HotAC and CHR, but Rock Stations? I just don't see it. A manufactored Band on top of coming from AI won't give him much credibility. IMO It'll be interesting to see if it translates into sales. Good radio play didn't work to well for Mario.

He won't get play on rock radio...that is certain now. Hot AC and some pop stations...the tracks overall so far are a bit generic, but the single is pretty catchy and strong. The band is too manufactured for rock to give them real cred...

He also told the N&O Newspaper in Raleigh that he is hoping to go Triple Platinum. Aiming high. Obviously he didn't need to win AI as he has an album coming out before the winner. It is becoming less and less important to win the show. He has a better chance at selling triple platinum then he ever did at winning idol. Why? Because only one person can win idol so that's harder to do but anyone can sell triple platinum WITH the right product and promotion has to be there. If he gets it, I wouldn't be surprised.

Yeah, but it seems like almost the entire top 6 are getting record deals. Kellie, Chris, Taylor, Kat and even that Bucky guy. The only one I never hear about is the short guy who always cried....Elliot right?
I just think AI is trying to captialize on these kids, has nothing to do with DAUGHTRY's mighty talent. Kellie Pickler is going to drop her album before Chris. It is pretty obvious, at least to me, that 19 and Clive are out to make as much as they can on this year's crop of idols.
I do think he is going to sell well, but triple platinum seems to be a bit ambitious for a new artist that isn't getting the kind of promo that say Kat and Taylor are.
This is just my opinion of course. Still, Chris was one of my favorites on idol this year and I hope he goes far.

triple platinum would mean it's one of the top albums of the year. Carrie did it this year, but to aim that high means there's nowhere to go but down and he's destined to be disappointed. So I really hope he's not seriously counting on that kind of number.
about Chris's promo not matching Taylor and Kat's... I'm not so sure about that... Clive wanted Chris to win, and I don't think Kat's gonna get that much promo.

Well we'll see what happens. Only 3 people from Idol have been able to go at least Triple Platinum. Kelly who went Double with her first album and 5X Platinum with her second. Carrie, who will probably go 4X Platinum with her Debut Album. Clay who went Triple with his first.
The track record for Idols who did not win is not good. Maybe Chris will be the exception, who knows. But Mario got a lot of radio play and promotion and look what he sold.
But his attitude is going to be his undoing, it really turns people off. It's one thing for a Successful Rock Singer to have that attitude, totally another for someone just starting out. He'd be better off to tone it down for interviews though.
What surprises me is the fact that he was very Rock on the show, yet the songs sound very Pop.

Well, I saw the promotion schedule that has been released, so far, for all three and Chris' does not even come close to that of Kat and Taylor. Of course, that could all change in a few days. :)

It's not as easy to get on these shows as it appears. Yeah the Winner and Runner-up get appearances pretty easy, but the further are you are down the food chain the more difficult it gets. Kim Locke can tell you that. He might have to prove himself a bit before he gets the "A" appearances.

I'm sure Chris will do fine.
