ROFL @ the acceptance speech for AOTY. 1) Shania's fake-ass smile when they called Carrie's name. She looked like she barely wanted to clap LMAO. 2) Martina not moving to the correct side after Carrie arrived on stage and the girl in the back treading her along while they talked. She looked so awkward lol. What a fantastic night overall for Ms. Underwood.

Review from MSN Music: Still, old George was visibly surprised, and probably wasn't the only one, when Martina McBride handed the album of the year award not to him, but to "American Idol" sensation Carrie Underwood, whose assured march to the podium matched the stealth of her journey to the top of the charts. Later on, she sang her hit "Wasted" to a chorus of screams from an audience that couldn't get enough of her assured professionalism. Underwood surprised no one by winning top female vocalist, beating out Sara Evans, Faith Hill, Miranda Lambert and McBride. When Underwood presented the award for top new female vocalist (which Underwood herself won last year) to Lambert, her advice to all the nominees was to "just breathe and take it all in." She sounded for all the world like a seasoned veteran. music.msn.com/music/acma2007/articles/bestworst

So they all basically sang live. It was just a difference of whose band was live and whose was recorded. I would have been shocked if Carrie didn't sing live. She never lipsynchs except for the "standard" ones (i.e. Macy's Thanksgiving parade). Plus, country artists pride themselves on singing live, right? Interesting tidbit from Producer J, but not really earth-shattering. For a minute there before I saw her response to the Carrie question, I was about to go "Whaaat?!!" LOL! I'm late with my reactions again, comes with being on the other side of the globe and relying on Vinman's generosity in providing caps. (Thanks, Vin!) For now, I'll just say she looked gorgeous in ALL the outfits. She really does look like a star. "Wasted" was good, she's consistent as always, but if I had to choose, I might have to pick the SNL performance over this one--- just from first viewing, I'm going to watch it over and over so let's see if I change my mind, hee!. My jaw dropped with the AOTY win, wow!!! Very happy for her 3 new awards. Her resume just keeps on building. They can now revise it to "has received 5 ACM awards and 9 ACM nominations...." Great speeches as usual, although I feel a lil bad for Dann Huff, haha! I'm sure he got his thanks though soon after. Um, what else? I really enjoyed the orange carpet Romowood interview! They look sooo happy together, I'm glad :) The banter was hilarious... and cute! I had a sentimental moment remembering her JTTW performance last year with the tears at the end and the looong standing ovation. Oh, how my little "sister" has grown :) [/end of rambling]

Re: new blog... I was expecting that. Man, we're so spoiled! I might even have pouted if she didn't immediately blog and tell us how things went. Kiddin'! :) And we got a wink too! Needless to say, I think she's a happy, happy girl-- more than usual-- right now.
Re: new song titles... they're getting me extra excited too. Between this and the album supposedly already in the "finishing touches" stage, I'm all ready to ruuuuumble! I have doubts though of Y108's interpretation of "finishing touches." It just seems too quick, but whatevah. Bottom line, it's progressing really well. Yay!
Re: "Oh Love"... duet from the reigning ACM Top Male and Female Vocalists? Bring it on!
Also, they didn't bring up the 6x platinum certification. I guess we know one thing Carrie might be doing at the AI finale-- accepting the plaque while someone brags about AI's "units."

i know im late in getting here, but im so freakin happy for carrie! she just absolutely SHONE last night...she seemed so happy with tony and so relaxed on stage. her little banters and jokes cracked me up :) and damn....that girl can SING! i love those power notes in wasted...and she never disappoints! and im really glad that Some Hearts finally got some respect..isnt this the first time it has actually won something as an album? i know the billboard awards it did, but i mean, thats only based on sales...this time it was based on merit!
and she always clues us in on her blog...i love this girl....
and squuueeeeee! at those song choices! they seem really deep....cant wait to hear them!

Pretty easy. At the sendspace page, scroll down and click on the blue hyperlink to download but DO NOT USE open. Use the save otherwise it will take a long time. My files are large (HQ) so the downoad can take a bit depending upon your connection and bandwidth load at sendspace. (remember, nothing in life comes for free ) Save it to your HD first. Then play. btw vinman -- how do u use sendspace? because when i try to open a file, it never loads (or nothing appears)... and when i try to save a file, the download takes like 25 minutes...is my computer too slow, or am i doing something wrong, ? or ...

All very well-deserved, of course :) In short, yup, Carrie knows all about Vinman. the LA TIMEs welcomes Carrie to the "Good Ole Boy's Club"! goldderby.latimes.com/awards_goldderby/2007/05/carrie_brad_wel.htmlLooks like Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley are now, officially, good ole boys, so to speak. Tonight their big ACM wins established the pretty upstarts as part of the Nashville establishment, something that had eluded them both in the past. That was particularly agonizing for Paisley since his breakthrough took so long. There was a time when the too-good-looking crooner was dismissed as featherweight by the gruff cowboy set. Sure, his music was good from the start of his career, but it was almost too pretty, too, too perfect. Somebody as good-lookin' as Paisley couldn't really be a great songwriter like that, many believed. His early success had to be a fluke, they figured. But the well-crafted music kept a-comin' and a-comin'. As the years rolled on, he proved himself over and over again, but just couldn't, golly gee whiz, seem to win a top Nashville award. But then he won the best-album award at the Academy of Country Music Awards last year, hurrah, and tonight finally earned a personal hug — the male vocalist of the year prize. That means, as Sally Field informed us, they really, really like him. And finally, finally accept him. As kin. And even as one of their gods, since multiple wins at the ACMs puts him in their pantheon. Carrie Underwood initially met with some skepticism in Nashville, having been made-for-the-pop-charts by "American Idol." But she was embraced soon enough — and strongly so. Last year when she won best female video and the video of the year awards ("Jesus Take the Wheel") at the CMTs, it was the first, early rumblings of a kudos volcano about to erupt. Next she won best new female vocalist at last year's ACMs. Then, egads, she beat Faith Hill for the female vocalist prize bestowed by the Country Music Association. Next up she won best new artist and female country vocalist at the Grammys. Now she not only takes the ACM's top female vocalist's prize this time (she merely won best new thrush last year), but she grabs the crowns for best album and video, too. Call her Queen Carrie of Nashville!

www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=72666Dave McGurgan of phillyBurbs.com recently conducted an interview with legendary hard rock rock vocalist Joe Lynn Turner (RAINBOW, DEEP PURPLE, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN). A couple of excerpts from the chat follow: phillyBurbs.com: What is your take on "American Idol"? Is it anything at all like the "real" music business? Joe: It's a FAR CRY from what it was like when I started in the biz. I grew up with a no fluff hard work ethic where dedication and tenacity was the focus if you wanted to "make it big." We did not have some venue where 40 million people were watching you every week, voting in what seems to be more of a popularity contest. It was all about "dying for your art" back in the '70s and even through most of the 80s. phillyBurbs.com: Is being a great singer as easy as some "Idol" contestants and/or professionals make it seem on the show? Joe: You have to make it look easy, that's the trick. Whether it is sports or music or any other art form, you have to make it look easy when it's really not. It's part of the mystique. phillyBurbs.com: Are there misconceptions about what it takes to be a great singer? Joe: Absolutely! "AI" as the popularity contest it has become has added to this making it seem easier than it is. In the end, "AI" may end up lowering the bar instead of raising it because it seems to be more of a popularity contest. Simon tries to pull it back to a singing contest with his comments and influence but he knows what he is up against. phillyBurbs.com: How about some of the "Idol" alumni? Joe: Daughtry is exceptional for his genre! Kelly Clarkson [has] plenty of heart and soul...the first "Idol" and still the best. Carrie Underwood is also proving she is exceptional. phillyBurbs.com: How do you think we'll look back on "Idol" in a decade? Joe: Let's see who is still standing when the dust settles 10, 20 even 30 years from now. I think Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood could be contenders for legends. They cross over into different genres and are not as trendy or forgettable. phillyBurbs.com: Did you catch Bon Jovi on "AI"? How did he (and his band) do? Joe: I have known all the guys in the band for a long time, being that I am also from New Jersey. They are great guys, excellent musicians and consistently decent songwriters. But all that aside, to be honest I thought Jon was good with the idol contestants (the Philly Soul T-shirt was also cool). He was "right on" with his comments. As for BON JOVI's performance on the show, (putting on my best Simon Cowell impersonation , I would say the performance was acceptable ... I am not jumping up and down over it. It was OK ... not terrible but seemed to lack some of the inspiration and authenticity I have seen many times from BON JOVI in the past. phillyBurbs.com: Why do some of the winners of "Idol" seem to flourish while others seem to struggle with success? Joe: They are too conventional, middle-of-the-road. Sure, many of them have good voices but they may not give you chills when they sing like a truly great singer such as Josh Groban. Or, they may not have that "wow factor" and are enough to make an impact to last decades. They won a contest. For example, Clay Aiken has a nice voice but is a bit trendy and may not end up being a megastar [that] stands the test of time. I always say, "If you can live without hearing a certain singer ever again then he or she is forgettable."

I think I'm most curious about "Everybody Cries" because Craig Wiseman is one of the most respected songwriters in Nashville. Of course looking at the writers, it is pretty much a who's who in Nashville. Kelly Lovelace was the first ever writer to have back to back number ones with Brad Paisley and then Carrie.
