Angelique Kidjo "New Album" with Alicia Keys etc

Angelique Kidjo, the four time Grammy nominated artist will be releasing a brand new album titled DJIN DJIN on May 1st, 2007. Many guests will appear on the album including Josh Groban, Carlos Santana, Alicia Keys, Joss Stone, Peter Gabriel, Amadou and Mariam, Ziggy Marley, and Branford Marsalis. The title, DJIN DJIN, refers to the sound of a bell in Africa that greets each new day. DJIN DJIN is being produced by Tony Visconti, who is known for producing David Bowie, Morrissey, and T. Rex, among others.

In February 2007, Kidjo will be joining Josh Groban on his Awake tour, performing as the opening act as well as a duet with Groban.

Angelique is a highly underrated artist. This new one sounds like it could be real good.

I love her and world music! Wombo Lombo was my favorite too, especially when BET's Carribean Rhythms(mna, I miss that show) used to play it all of the time 10 years ago.

wombo lombo was her only hit on billboard....i think it went top 20 on the dance charts....anyway my fav song by her is "agolo" and voodoo

Junior Vasquez did a few mixes of Angelique's songs but no other ones had the notoriety that "Wombo Lombo" had. Those were some really unusual mixes he did. That Arena era of his yielded some truly scary creations.

I'm listening to this on AOL Listening Party right now.

So far I've only heard 4 tracks, but I'm loving them! "Gimme Shelter" with Joss Stone is particularly good.
