I found this chart run of Bryan Adams' Back to You. The song leaped 9 spots into its peak position!
34-27-[27-27]-23-14-15-17-16-22-30-off
[] due to 2 week hiatus
What other songs peaked the week they had a huge move?

In early 1994, Celine Dion's "Power Of Love" jumped from 11 to 3 and didn't get any higher. There was heavy competition in the Top Three around that time, with "The Sign" by Ace Of Base and "Without You" by Mariah Carey. The competition materialized pretty quickly, as the week Celine took the big jump, "Breathe Again" by Toni Braxton moved back up to number two, where she had been the week before, so it was pretty slow that week.
Three years before that, "We Want The Funk" by Gerardo moved from 22-14 and the next week, fell back to number 20. Sudden competition also was partially responsible for the weird chart move.
Going back a few years, in late 1986, "To Be A Lover" by Billy Idol moved from 11 to 5, looking like a safe bet for the top three the week after, but that wasn't to be. The next week, it dropped to 7 and fell quite quickly afterwards. People sure got tired of that fast.
The other one I can think of was "Eat It" by "Weird Al" Yankovic. Its move from 25 to 19 isn't exactly "huge", but its 39-25 move the week before sure was. It dropped from its peak of 19 to 20 and disappeared very soon after. The fact that it was a novelty song accounted for its sudden drop.

I don't have any charts in front of me, but it seems that "If You Go Away" by NKOTB did something similar.

I think Destiny's Child's "Say My Name" jumped from 8-3 and peaked at #3. That's the best example I can think of off the top of my head.

"The Hardest Thing" by 98 Degrees jumped 9-4* and fell from there.

In October, 1980, Boz Scaggs' hit "Look What You've Done To Me", after moving up the chart at a normal pace, suddenly sprang ahead from 17 to 6. The week after, it fell back to eight. I wonder if there was a computer malfunction.
And, of course, in 1976, the O'Jays' "Living For The Weekend" moved 34-24-22-off. That last week wasn't really a big jump, but the week before definitely was, plus it disappeared from the chart completely the week after it peaked.

Does Cyndi Lauper's "Money Changes Everything" count? I remember it spent two weeks at its peak of #20 and dropped off the very next week.

Well, that sort of falls into the same category of "Living For The Weekend". It made a small move into its peak position, but the week before, it made a good-sized move to number 21, from #30. It debuted at number 30 the week of January 11, but that was after a two-week period - I have a feeling that it would have debuted the week before had there been a chart. Be that as it may, I just don't understand how, after four top three hits, the song just hit a brick wall. Maybe stations played the song because it was by a well-established artist, but then they decided it was a poor-quality song (and it was - the four preceding singles were far better, IMO).

from the rick dees chart there are a couple of really bizare moves, not really suge-peak-fall but still strange. this year THE JOKER from fatboy slim/bootsy collins debuted at 24 then disappeared from the countdown for good. and also LEAVE from jojo ran to #6, dropped to #8, then rebounded for around 6 weeks at #1. very very weird indeed.....

Although I don't have my charts in front of me, I think I remember a song by Divine moving 40-39-30-32-30 in 1999> I may be wrong however.

this year THE JOKER from fatboy slim/bootsy collins debuted at 24 then disappeared from the countdown for good. Actually, that was just an error from the web site. "The Joker" was played as an extra in place of the #24 song.

If my memory serves me correctly, it was "Everytime" by Britney Spears. After that, he put "Outrageous" in place of "Everytime". He really must not like that song!

"Lately", the song you're thinking of, peaked at #11. EDIT: The song you're thinking of might be Deborah Cox's "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here". I have that as having went 40-39-30-34-32-30-31-32, but the run I have might be from AT40.

Did Divine's cover of a Wham! song which was their second single hit the Top 50?

MikeK102, You're right, it is Deborah Cox. You've also posted the correct chart run. That was the R&R chart run.
