I will be interested in listening to their new material, but I don't expect it to be of the same quality as Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches era Happy Mondays.

That album was excellent!
Anyway, is this the year of reunions or what? Smashing Pumpkins (sort of, since without Iha...), Dinosaur Jr, Meat Puppets, RATM...

lol, I can't tell from that review if Pitchfork likes it or not. ;) But yeah, the song didn't do a whole lot for me, either. This post is looking more and more accurate: I will be interested in listening to their new material, but I don't expect it to be of the same quality as Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches era Happy Mondays.

Haha, funny read, thanks for that! Now that they mentioned "Wild Wild West", maybe the song could use some Sisqo.

This song is shit, and left me mildly nostalgic for Sneaker Pimps' "Post-Modern Sleaze". God knows why.

Were you actually expecting anything other than total shit? I still remember when that laughable "The Boys Are Back In Town" cover was released in 1999, when they made their first reunion attempt. And I also remember how 2005's "Playground Superstar" was even worse. You just had to read the signs.

lol, I can't tell from that review if Pitchfork likes it or not. ;) But yeah, the song didn't do a whole lot for me, either. This post is looking more and more accurate: Were you actually expecting anything other than total s**t? I still remember when that laughable "The Boys Are Back In Town" cover was released in 1999, when they made their first reunion attempt. And I also remember how 2005's "Playground Superstar" was even worse. You just had to read the signs. Nah, my expectations were indeed very low at best, and you're right about the "signs" in that you don't need to be Nostradamus to know how this song was gonna turn out. I quoted banet's post simply because his approach mirrored my own: I too was interested enough in hearing their new stuff -- hence I not only entered this thread to begin with, but I listened to the track -- and sure enough, it doesn't come close to matching their best material.

f**k them for crafting this pile of shet & f**k them, too, for canceling on their fans last minute in NYC. A real Mickey Mouse operation, the Happy Mondays.

LMAO!
I just noticed that there's no Wiki entry for this album, it's really going to be a disaster. Not that there were doubt about it, but still...

Metascore based on 5 reviews... It debuts at #73 in the UK. It's over before it even started. Goodbye Shaun!

LOL! 56?!?! I haven't heard the album, I don't plan to, and I don't need to do it to know it doesn't warrant that high of an average (trust me: some things you just know instinctively). And as for #73... well, I guess both Shaun and Bez will have to work even harder to pay the taxman once more, eh?
