CocoRosie will be off on another Adventure this spring.

The band's The Adventures Of Ghosthorse and Stillborn April 10 from Touch and Go Records. The band teamed with producer Valgeir Sigurðsson (Bjork), and shot cover art with French photographer Pierre et Gilles.

I am interested in hearing their new material. I found both La Mason and Noah's Ark quite weird and hard to categorize into neat genres, which I find quite interesting. Hopefully their next CD will be another odd mixture of multiple genres of music mixed together into their own style.

Basically, CoCoRosie are two boring, pleasant twenty somethings that play sleep-inducing bellywash.

And the new album sounds like it sucks, going by this (admittedly limited) consensus:

CocoRosie Arrested, Shows Cancelled

Ghosthorse & Stillborn seem to have gotten a little too adventurous, as freak-hop band CocoRosie have been arrested, necessitating the cancellation of the rest of their U.S. North American tour. In a MySpace bulletin posted today, the Touch and Go sister act wrote, "We are so sorry to announce that we cannot play the rest of the U.S. tour dates. The band got arrested, that's all I can say." The Casady's Canadian and European shows will take place as planned, as will a May 19 free gig at the World Financial Center in New York City.

No other information about the arrest is available, but we hope it involves smuggling unicorns.

I can't trust anyone who actually doesn't find all the obvious faults Village Voice has been having since New Times merged with Village Voice Media - i.e., since Chuck Eddy and Robert Christgau were unceremoniously booted off. Sorry, but I just can't!

But seriously. Sharp-tongued? Uncompromised? Maybe if you were talking about Pitchfork, Stylus, Idolator or Popjustice. Or the New York Times. Or The New Yorker. Or the pre-New Times Village Voice. Not THIS Village Voice. sorry. Or all the other publications from Village Voice Media which I had in great esteem, like the Seattle Weekly or City Pages.

LOL! For God's sake, I barely read the publication. I don't have the time. Whenever I've read it, I've liked and respected what I encountered, but it wasn't really focused on music. They have some decent opinion pieces, I can attest to that. Maybe you're right about their general direction, but I haven't had consistent enough exposure to really explore further. In my experience, I thought their music section was pretty well done, and I noticed a lot of my own thoughts were similar to those expressed (not that it matters, but obviously you remember that kind of thing). I get the paper when I go into NYC and that's it.

I probably only mentioned it in this thread to say "oh, here's a review of this particular album from a publication that seems to be on target with its judgements; maybe this is a signifier of what is to come"). And I guess it did foretell a whole crop of s**tty reviews.
