www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070426/ENTERTAINMENT04/704260675R&B vocalist Erykah Badu will perform July 21 at Conseco Fieldhouse as part Indiana Black Expo's 37th annual Summer Celebration, organizers announced Thursday.
Scheduled for July 12-22, Summer Celebration also will feature veteran R&B acts the O'Jays, Peabo Bryson and Atlantic Starr in a free concert July 22 at American Legion Mall, plus the event's traditional celebrity basketball game, teen forums, heath fair and consumer exhibitions.
In conjunction with the lineup announcement, Expo officials presented the organization's annual report for 2006 at a gathering at Downtown's Skyline Club.
Expo ended 2006 with total net assets of $2.3 million, compared to 2005's end-of-year balance of $2.2 million, according to the annual report.
Organizers also reported an attendance figure of 340,741 for last year's Summer Celebration. The Circle City Classic football game and related activities -- the other signature event on Expo's calendar -- drew 162,316 people last October.
Badu, winner of four Grammy Awards, will headline a bill that also features vocalist Anthony Hamilton.
While Badu hasn't issued a solo recording since 2003's "Worldwide Underground," she contributed several songs to the soundtrack of 2006 film "Dave Chappelle's Block Party."
Tickets for the Conseco Fieldhouse concert -- priced at $49.99 and $45.99 -- go on sale at 10 a.m. May 11.
