To be fair, there was an initial offering that popped up in 2012 - Aaliyah and Drake - Enough Said - that was FIRE. Supposedly there was an entire album that Drake exec produced alongside his producer 40. From the sounds of that first song, it’s a pretty perfect pairing. If they go this route, Im here for it. |

If acts like Timbaland and Tank who actually worked with her when she was alive are involved with the project, I'm okay with that. Not really a fan of including acts who she never knew.. but I did like "Enough Said" with Drake.

I agree. Not feeling most of the posthumous "collaborations" these days. I'm fine with artists sampling old and unreleased materials by Aaliyah, but I don't think doing an entire album under her name is necessary.

There has been so much hate thrown at Barry over the years - myself included - but I would love to know the truth. Im guessing this all comes down to money and how much the estate wants from the release of her music. Im not buying that Aaliyahs mother doesn’t want her music out there. I get the feeling that Barry is trying to make the most money possible and leave them out? At the same time, he got it out there so…? I bought 3 vinyls but have seen a lot
of backlash from these purchases. I look at it this way…we may never get these releases again so I’m taking advantage.

If a posthumous album actually materializes, I hope there are also solo versions without these collaborators who weren't even in the industry when she was still with us.
The only leaked one I liked was "Round and Round" with Ne-Yo. I bookmarked fan edits of "Enough Said" without Drake.

I’m definitely down to grab the two Aaliyah albums and the Romeo Must Die soundtrack on CD just to have backups. I bought those three back in the day but just in case those OG discs ever “rot” and become unplayable, I have backups. It would be great if the RMD soundtrack was explicit though, as I have the explicit version of “Come Back In One Piece” saved on my computer but the album/video version has always been edited.
Adding some additional tracks or remixes to everything that’s being re-released would have been icing on the cake, especially for OIAM and Self-Titled, but it will be great to have the Blackground catalog available again for fans to revisit and enjoy.
