Blockstar *Chingy's 4th album, and 2nd release on Disturbing Tha Peace, hits stores December 18th. His debut, Jackpot, went 2x Platinum and spawned a #1 Rap hit with "Right Thurr" and 2 Gold singles ( "Holidae In", "One Call Away"). After he and Luda publicly fell out, he cut ties with DTP and released 2 more albums backed solely by Capitol. Powerballin' sold 600k (but was certified Platinum) and spawned a Gold single ( "Balla Baby") while Hoodstar spawned a dual #1 R&B/Hip-Hop smash with "Pullin' Me Back" yet only sold 300k (certified Gold). Earlier this year, Chingy and DTP reconciled, he re-signed with the label (and now will be distributed through Island Def Jam) and went to work on Hate It or Love It, which will feature production from Cool & Dre, Scott Storch, Jermaine Dupri, Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, Kanye West & L.T. Moe, who produced the first single "Fly Like Me" feat. Amerie.

Yea, I'm looking forward to the single. He usually releases boring, lackluster CDs that are full of filler garbage.

SOHH Exclusive: Chingy Addresses The Haters, "Either You Like Me Or You Don't"Having reunited with Ludacris and Disturbing Tha Peace family, Chingy is ready to make a comeback. In this SOHH exclusive, the St. Louis native reveals the meaning behind his new album title, the pressures of releasing his forth album, and why Jay-Z's president/rapper status at Def Jam is not a conflict of interest. As SOHH previously reported Chingy settled his differences with Ludacris, returned to the Disturbing Tha Peace imprint. In August of this year he left Capitol Records, signed with Island Def Jam and began working on his forth studio album, Hate It or Love It. "You know with me getting back with Disturbing Tha Peace, I felt it was like the right time to use [the title Hate It or Love It] considering I know there was gon' be a lot of haters on the sideline gossiping," Chingy told SOHH. "And then there's gon' be people glad to see me back with Disturbing Tha Peace and that's rootin' the situation on. So I looked at it like I'm gonna call the album Hate It or Love It and I take it like this, by this being my fourth album, either you like me or you don't." While fellow Def Jam rapper LL Cool J has been quite vocal about Jay-Z's possible conflict of interest, Chingy brushes off such concerns. "Not knocking LL or nobody," Chingy told SOHH. "It's just my opinion. That's what Jay-Z do. He was an artist, blossomed into a CEO, president of a company. And he still wanna be an artist at the same time. I can't knock him for doing what he do. It don't matter if he's the president. I understand that it's like you're competing with your boss but like that's what he do man." "I ain't looking at it like I gotta compete with him," he continued. "I'm just out here doing me. I'm not worrying about what he doing. I'm worrying about what I'm doing and me selling them records." When asked if he felt any pressure releasing an album in an era when rap album sales have been less than stellar Chingy replied, "Naww man, pressure bust pipes, so I try not to feel too much pressure and let the pressure get to me. I just clear my mind, try to go in the studio, make a nice album, make some great music, just get it out there and the rest is history."

35-40k is his expected 1st-week total. OUCH. I thought he would do at least 50k since his album was sold out at every store I went to.

That's bad. I thought when I heard the single with Amerie that, for sure, he would do well with this CD. I thought he would match the success of his previous effort. With numbers like this and the single not picking up at all, it's not looking good for Chingy.

Billboard Review:
Love It or Hate It CHINGY Producer(s): various Genre: HIP-HOP Label: Disturbing Tha Peace/Def Jam
At the start of his fourth album, Atlanta-based rapper Chingy lets us know that he's "straight as a perm" —a curious metaphor that fits the slinky, circuitous course he takes on this return to Ludacris' Disturbing Tha Peace imprint. This diverse set ranges from the beat-driven fun of "Kick Drum" and "All Aboard (Ride It)" to the lush, Kanye-esque soundscape of "Gimme Dat," with Ludacris and Bobby Valentino, to such club joints as "2 Kool 2 Dance," "Spend Some" (with Trey Songz) and "Roll On 'Em" (with Rick Ross). Chingy teams with Anthony Hamilton on the socially conscious "How We Feel," while Amerie brings soulful vocal hooks to "Fly Like Me." And while the title of "Lovely Ladies" may sound like a playa anthem, it's actually Chingy's tribute to his female elders, promising his mother that "one of these days I'm gonna bring home a Grammy."—Gary Graff

Chingy rounds out the top 100 debuts at No. 84 with "Hate It Or Love It" ( 31,000). Ouch. Wow. Chingy's really fallen off. It's been downhill ever since Capitol messed up on the "Don't Worry" single release, with the exception of "Pullin' Me Back" adding another hit to Chingy's career.

If he had dropped "Gimme Dat" as his lead single, he'd at least have cracked top-40.

Who the hell puts Amerie on a single and expects it to launch an album? I dont get it. I could see if it was Rihanna, Beyonce, or Fergie on the hook but its Amerie....thats definately not a selling point.
