The partnership between Ludacris & Chingy turned sour after Chingy accused his mentor and former label Disturbing Tha Peace of cheating him out of cash. The singer, who released his debut album Jackpot via Capitol/ DTP in 2003, severed ties with DTP in 2004 after claiming his money was being mismanaged. He then released Powerballin' and Hoodstar, two new albums on Capitol Records but both albums would suffer from low sales. In an attempt to revive his career, Chingy reunited with DTP via a deal with Def Jam in 2007 but still suffered low sales when he released his latest album Hate It Or Love It. For weeks rumors have been circulating that Chingy, whose real name is Howard Bailey Jr., had been dropped by Def Jam/DTP and it has became clearer in the past days as his name is no longer listed on Def Jam's official website.

On your first album when you get into the music game don't expect alot of money. He's was thinking "I went Triple Platinum, I should have more money coming in..." Nope! Promo, videos, production budget, guest star rates, tours, accountant fees, etc. But he put himself back on the label. He was never able to pull numbers like his 1st album. So DTP and him on the money issue is now non-existent. |

That is sad. Chingy was slightly talented. I like some of his sing-song rap cuts like Pullin' Me Back, One Call Away and the duet with Janet Jackson. Other than that, he had too much wannabe-gangsta rap, and it was way too uncharacteristic for him. I do not know if he will be able to rebound after this. I wonder what's happening with that reality show.

He had no problem generating a radio hit but there's never a real interest in his albums beyond his debut.
