Univision, which bought WZAA 92.7 (formerly Alternative WLIR) about three years ago, has changed WZAA from a Latin Urban simulcast with New York City's WCAA to Regional Mexican. WCAA/WZAA had a second consecutive bad season in the New York (New York City and surrounding area) ratings and now has about one-third as many listeners as the two popular Spanish stations in New York, WSKQ and WPAT, which are both owned by SBS. In Nassau-Suffolk, which is 12.6 percent Hispanic as compared to 21.2 percent in New York, WSKQ and WPAT have fallen down to very bad ratings (WPAT went down by almost 50 percent) and WCAA/WZAA has hardly any listeners with a rating lower than that of WEZN and WWYZ from Connecticut.
