Want to get free CDs before they hit the market? Are you passionate about music? Opinionated? Can you work on a deadline? Ghettoblaster Magazine is looking for a few more talented writers. But who the heck is Ghettoblaster anyway?
A good question and I’m glad that you asked! Ghettoblaster is a quarterly magazine distributed heavily to independent record stores, retail outlets and magazine shops, nationally and internationally. Our writing is informed but unpretentious. Articles and reviews aren’t a chance to show off your knowledge of obscure kraut rock revivalists but rather an opportunity to share thoughtful insights on up-and-coming and classic artists.
As far as genres, we're not really constricted in what we cover. In the South Bronx, Oakland, Bridgeport or wherever, a plethora of music exists, screamed out of an even larger plethora of Ghettoblasters. Wherever and whatever is getting played, we try to be hip to it and not in some sort of ‘flavor of the month’ way, but through looking for real substance.
All of that said, both our writers and readers are just as varied as the music we cover. Hip-hop heads, hardcoreys, indiesnobs, emokids, straightedgers and alcoholics, we’re all part of the Ghettoblaster dysfunctional family and we’d love to include you…
Send us a list of some of your favorite bands along with some writing samples (make some up if you don’t have any – review Twisted Sister’s Live Hits and Nasty Cuts for all I care) and a little bit about yourself to submissions@ghettoblastermagazine.com.
Thanks for taking the time to look and stoked to see what you have to offer.
