I don't think she should have done it simply because the result isn't all that great, but it's ok I guess.

Lindsay's Mom: Nude Photos 'Tastefully Done' By David Caplan
Originally posted Tuesday February 19, 2008 05:00 PM EST
Lindsay Lohan's nude pictorial in the current issue of New York magazine has received the stamp of approval from her manager-mom Dina.
"It was very tastefully done," Dina tells PEOPLE of the photos, a recreation of Marilyn Monroe's legendary 1962 photo shoot shot by Bert Stern. "I respect the photographer as an artist, so I look at them artistically. For him to call Lindsay 46 years later and to say can you recreate these photos is an honor. I looked at it as art, and as Lindsay doing a character. So I don't look at them like it's Playboy; she was being a character. So if you look at it that way, you can look at it as a mother."
And Dina adds that had the photos been inappropriate, Lindsay's sister Ali would not have visited the set. "Trust me," Dina tells PEOPLE, "I wouldn't have sent my 14-year-old to the set [if the shoot was in bad taste]. And obviously Lindsay wouldn't do anything with her sister there, that was risqué."
Lindsay, 21, also viewed the shoot as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Dina tells PEOPLE.
"Lindsay was very excited when she first got the phone call," says Dina, 45. "Of course we talked about how they would be done. Lindsay said, 'Mommy, I'm never going to get this opportunity to do it again.' She was very thankful she was asked."
And being a Monroe fan, only made Lohan even more determined to do the shoot.
"She's always loved Marilyn," Dina says. "For Christmas, my girlfriends even gave her a Marilyn cookie jar. I think there's a sadness that Lindsay feels for Marilyn. Lindsay really saw it as a gift back to someone."
But Lindsay made sure she was in tip-top shape for the shoot. "Lindsay did 250 crunches before because she was nervous since she had never done anything like that before," Dina says.
As for Lindsay's other projects, Dina says Lindsay is busy recording her third album. "I've heard a couple of tracks," Dina says. "They were amazing!"

Lindsay Lohan Opens Up About Recent Troubles
By Stephen M. Silverman People Magazine Originally posted Thursday February 28, 2008 04:00 PM EST
After baring her body – in a nude photo spread as Marilyn Monroe – Lindsay Lohan is now baring her soul.
As others speculate on the chances of her reviving her career after her troubled past year – 2007 brought everything from traffic infractions to another stint in rehab – Lohan, 21, tells Paper magazine for its March issue, "I am what I am."
And to those in Hollywood who are thinking of hiring her again: "They either want to take a chance or they don't, is how I see it," says Lohan.
'I Had a Lot Going On' In terms of her well-chronicled, pre-rehab hard-partying ways, "I had a lot going on in my life and that was a way of hiding from it," she explains. "I hadn't seen my dad; I had a lot of work stress 'cause I was constantly working and never took time to stop."
(She now considers the reconciliation with father Michael Lohan, who had spent two years behind bars on a DUI and additional charges, "good for my whole family; it's healthy.")
Admittedly, the young actress was caught up in the fast lane. "Everything was go-go-go, and the easiest thing was to run away from it, going out and drinking at night," she says. "You know, you don't have to think when you let go sometimes."
She adds, "But I didn't realize it was getting in the way of my work – what I've worked for my whole life."
That changed: "There's not really much else to do when you're sitting in a treatment center. It's like, 'Why am I here? Let's think,' " she concedes.
Find a Great Script "Right now I just want to find a great script, a great role," says Lohan about the future. "I was so used to working and working and working, and for a good few months there was nothing for me to do. Now I know what it's like to be an out-of-work actor, and how much it scares me."
And while Lohan was in line for a role that went to Sienna Miller instead, she reportedly is in talks about a biopic about the silent-movie "It" girl Clara Bow, who was famous for her wild ways – as well as for a later mental illness that led to a reclusive old age.
"I definitely relate to a lot of the things that she went through," says Lohan. "Not with her family, but the trials and tribulations of Hollywood, to an extent."

Lindsay Lohan: 'I'm Back on Track'
By Amy Elisa Keith Originally posted Tuesday March 04, 2008 06:35 PM EST
Multiple car accidents, three stints in rehab and a court ordered spell at the morgue can put anyone's life into perspective. Lindsay Lohan tells PEOPLE that the last few years of turmoil have made her more focused on acting and singing than ever.
"My life was distracted by certain things and that got in the way of work," Lohan, 21, said Tuesday at the Paper Magazine and Diesel luncheon celebrating this month's cover story. "But now I'm back on track and figuring out what's next."
Alongside designer Jeremy Scott, who shot the cover, and DJ friends Samantha Ronson and Steve Aoki, the actress laughed and took personal pictures at the event in her honor held at the Sunset Marquis Hotel and Villas.
"Lindsay and I have been talking about doing a shoot together for some time and we hadn't had the chance," said Scott, who is also a friend. Though Scott is not the only one to have photographed the actress recently, he says, "Everyone always shoots her in a very generic [way]. So we took her and put her on a set and let her act." He adds: "She's an actress for God sakes, and sometimes people forget that."
So what is next for the starlet? She is getting ready to start shooting the comedy Ye Olde Times with Jack Black and David Arquette. Plus, there's another album in the works.
"I'm recording right now [with] Motown and being in the studio again has been really great," she said of her "dance, hip-hop and R&B album," adding, "It's all coming together."

Lindsay Lohan is seeking inspiration from two major pop stars for her upcoming album, she tells PEOPLE in an exclusive interview.
"I want it to be dance," she tells PEOPLE. "I want it to be kind of Kylie Minogue-meets-Rihanna. I hope to tour with it and I hope to really promote it."
Asked if any of the tracks feature lyrics that refer her past year, including her several stints in rehab and family turmoil, Lohan said Thursday night at a photo exhibit at The Atelier in New York, "I'm not sure yet – I don't know if I really want to.
"I think the past is the past and it should be kept there," Lohan added. "It's a new slate for me, and I want to show that in my new record."
But Lohan has already finished a few tracks. "I'm recording here in New York, and in L.A.," she said at Thursday’s party, sponsored by Snapple Antioxidant Water, which included shots from photographers including Gus Freedman and a silent auction with proceeds benefiting the American Red Cross. "I've already done three songs. I'm doing my third song in New York actually."
Lohan's first few tunes have already won rave reviews from her manager-mom Dina. "I've heard a couple of tracks," she told PEOPLE last month. "They were amazing!"
The star’s 14-year-old sister Ali is also hitting the studio to record an album – but "she's younger, so it's a different vibe," says Lindsay.
Lohan also adds that she doesn't think it's odd her sister is following in her footsteps. "She's doing what I love to do, and she loves to do it too."

Lindsay Lohan: I Put Myself in 'Wrong Situations' By David Caplan
Originally posted Sunday March 16, 2008 08:30 AM EDT
It's been nearly six months since Lindsay Lohan checked out of Cirque Lodge Treatment Center in Utah. And now the actress is opening up about the lifestyle that led her to rehab.
"I think it was just situations that I was putting myself in," she told PEOPLE at a photo exhibit last week at N.Y.C.'s The Atelier. "I was putting myself in the wrong situations and I didn't have the focus in the right place."
Since leaving, Lohan, 21, said she's rid herself of bad influences and hangers-on. "I did – I changed things," she insisted.
The starlet also said she keeps in touch with the friends she met at Cirque Lodge and that her family has helped keep her on track.
"My family has always been important to me, and they've always supported me," said Lohan, who reunited with her estranged dad, Michael, while in rehab. "I'm blessed to have a really wonderful family."
Career Revival After a tumultuous 2007, Lohan's career seems to be back on track. She's recording a new album and begins filming the Jack Black movie Ye Olde Times this spring. ("I'm excited to go and do a comedy," she says.) And Chapter 27, which costars Jared Leto, is set to open later this month.
So does Lohan view this as her comeback? "I think this is what I love to do," she said. "I'm just continuing to do it – in the right ways."
