Sweet, I've always loved Rage. I like Cornell too, but to be honest, nothing Audioslave's done has matched RATM's best stuff. Hopefully this can be more than a one-off thing, but I won't be holding my breath or anything.
Good lineup too, btw.

Rage, Bjork, Chili Peppers Sign On For Coachella
January 22, 2007, 12:00 AM ET As first tipped here on Friday, a reunited Rage Against The Machine, Bjork and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will lead the lineup for the 2007 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, to be held April 27-29 in Indio, Calif. The event will also feature a reunion gig from Crowded House as well as the Arcade Fire, Sonic Youth, Air, the Roots, Willie Nelson, Interpol, Manu Chao, Ghostface Killah and Fountains Of Wayne.
Rage Against The Machine co-headlined the first Coachella with Tool in 1999, while Bjork was a headliner in 2002 and the Chili Peppers served in that role the following year. The full lineup will also sport sets by Jarvis Cocker, the Good, the Bad and the Queen, Hot Chip, El-P, Peeping Tom, the Decemberists, the Happy Mondays, Arctic Monkeys, Tiesto, Kings Of Leon, Travis, Placebo, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Lily Allen, Roky Erickson, Paul Van Dyk, Gotan Project, Kaiser Chiefs, Silversun Pickups, Faithless and LCD Soundsystem.
Influential U.K. rock act the Jesus And Mary Chain will be on hand for Coachella, marking its first performance since a messy 1998 split. Rage guitarist Tom Morello will also perform as the Nightwatchman, under which he will release an album April 24 via Epic.
In addition, DJ Shadow, Satellite Party, Stephen Marley featuring Jr. Gong, Konono No. 1, Nickel Creek, the Black Keys, the New Pornographers, Rufus Wainwright, the Rapture, !!!, Richie Hawtin, Explosions In The Sky, Junior Boys, Sparklehorse, Soulwax, the Kooks, Felix Da Housecat, Blonde Redhead, Damien Rice, Lupe Fiasco, Jose Gonzales, Brazilian Girls, Regina Spektor, Ozomatli, Peaches, Cornelius, We Are Scientists, Amy Winehouse, the Comedians of Comedy, Spank Rock, Tapes 'n Tapes, the Klaxons, Girl Talk, CSS, the Coup, Against Me, Teddybears, Andrew Bird and Peter, Bjorn and John will play.
Sources say the Rage performance, the group's first since 2000, will likely be a one-off. Vocalist Zack de la Rocha has barely been heard from since the band split due to creative differences; fellow members Tom Morello, Brad Wilk and Tim Commerford went on to form Audioslave with ex-Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell.
At what will be her first show of 2007, Bjork will likely unveil material from her new studio album, due this spring via Atlantic. As previously reported, it will include contributions from producer Timbaland and vocalist Antony of Antony and the Johnsons.
Coachella tickets go on sale Saturday (Jan. 27). A three-day pass will sell for $249; a limited amount of single day tickets will be available for $85.

If they make it as a one-off (or even sporadic one-offs), more power to them. But please, PLEASE, PUHLEEEEZE, don't start any major reunion tour. And definitely please, PLEASE, PUHLEEEEZE, don't even think about writing new stuff! As much as you're making run-of-the-mill hard rock nowadays, just don't go and try to recreate your glory days. Everything ends for a reason, everything has its natural cycles. Don't go and try to prove Mother Nature wrong on this, will ya?...

heh. I like noz's "what, no body count?" comment. Man that group sucked, lol. Ice wasn't a great lead singer at all, even though I loved that first CD. The winners lose, evil d... lol And what about the comment that mentions Urban Dance Squad? Now that's a forgotten, underrated band, if there ever was one. And Fishbone, man! OK, so they were more ska than hip-hop, but still... Not to mention Run-DMC and the also criminally forgotten Cro-Mags... There was also Dog Eat Dog. But let's not dig up mediocre also-rans, shall we? (1)(1) 24-7 Spyz

Had it been a new studio album, the August 24 countdown would have been a brilliant way to kick off promotion.

LOL, all of a sudden the fuss that took place at the MTV awards in 2000 came to my mind... I don't know if the musical climate would be receptive, but the Dinosaur Jr comeback album made me quite hopeful re: reunions so I'll be keeping my antennas up if RATM decides to put out a new record...
