Although songs from her previous era are still charting (Fly Like A Bird, STILL in top 3 on Urban) and she's still getting nominated for her work on the 'Emancipation' album, I think it's time to start a new thread for the Album/Movie that's currently in the work.
one thing .. I just really hope she stay far away from JD & Dabrat?

She needs to stay with JD. If it wasnt for JD she would still be making albums like horrid albums.

I think we had a JD overload in the TEOM era. I wouldn't mind a little bit of JD though (Always Be My Baby and We Belong Together are classics).
Does anyone think she'll include a cover in the next album?

If you look at the state of JD's current work it is flopping, so she may want to take a breather from him.

When do y'all think we will start to hear about the new album? I'm guessing it will be released around October, so maybe there will be a single released in late August / September...?

Or maybe even work with Dallas Austin, revive his career lol I could be imagining this, but didn't Mariah record a number of songs with Dallas for possible inclusion on the re-release of TEOM? I seem to remember hearing a rumour that there were at least four songs completed, but that it was felt that these tracks were too strong to be included on "just a re-release". Does anyone else remember reading about this?

As for what I'd like to see on this album, here are a few random wishes...
A duet with Mary J Blige
Two re-sung remixes of the first and second singles - also, remix videos would be shot for both!
A cover version, but with a unique twist - possible single choice
The lead single should be an uptempo club banger, with a slight pop edge - something which will have mass crossover appeal, and be a worldwide hit.
No more WBT clones, although I hope that there will be songs in a similar genre.

Whilst I remember, has the Dave Harness Remix of FLAB leaked? Or any others (bar the LQ rip of Tracy Young's Remix, and the Maurice Joshua Mix)?

So im sure you can expect a follow up I think her album should stick to all solo and then make a remix album with an urban feel. that would be sick.

I wouldn't mind a bit of JD in the new album...I love TEOM and if the new album would be SIMILAR(but not identical)to that,I'd be happy :) Then,I'd love to see her working with someone new :)

The reality is that she will work with JD unless they have some sort of falling out. They are good friends, and she had good success with the songs from TEOM he worked on, so she will go back to him.
I would love to see her work with Timbaland some, but that will be like jumping on the bandwagon at this point. She definitely needs to come out with a fresh uptempo song like she did back in the 90s ("Fantasy," et al). That will get her massive radio play and really set the album up for a good start.

I wanna hear CLUB BANGER from Mimi. And no more WBT follow up. House is a good choice :) And as always, songs like Mine Again and her classics that can show her voice!!

I would love the first song to be a great uptempo / club banger type of song, just like It's Like That was. ILT was so unique, and I think it's quite underrated . I think Time of Your Life was a great song too. Something along the ILT, TOYL, Fantasy lines would be hot for a first single, or just anything that gets the floor shaking.
What I am really hoping for are one or two of those deep, introspective songs like Outside or Looking In. That is what I really hope for in this album. A song like that would get quite some attention from the critics if it's done well and is unique. I feel both Outside and Looking In are very underrated as well.
Regarding producers, I think she should work with JD again for a few (2-3 tracks), but I do like the work she did with James Wright (Circles, FLAB and I Wish You Knew) and hope she works with Wright again. Regarding Timbaland, I think he might be a bit too overexposed and may not deliver the best to Mariah necessarily. I feel she works better with people she's worked with before, but one or to Timbaland tracks couldn't hurt. I can't wait for her new project.

^^ Tennesse is an indie-flick that is going to be her third movie. She is supposed to play a waitress / country singer. Should be an interesting role for her. If you have doubts about her acting skills, you should see Wisegirls. She blows Mira Sorvino away.

I think although working with Timbo would be over-exposure for him, I think they could make magic together.... Nelly said it herself when she says on her album, "with your beat and an emotional vocal"....... that's a great combination right there... and Loose was one of my favorite albums of this year.....

I think you know you're obsessed with a singer when you get chills just reading about an upcoming album. Haha. Anyways; I also hope the lead single is uptempo. I would like for her to maybe experience with other genres on the album but I doubt it'll happen. I hope she takes it up a notch lyrically. I hope it's huge. Wisegirls was awesome.

I would like Walter Afanasieff back to help her write songs because he helped on all her albums on Columbia and I was never dissatisfied.
I do not want a club banger on this album as much as I want a dance track. I loved tracks like Honey and Heartbreaker but I was not a fan of Its like that. I would like less guest appearances and have more comtemporary. NO JD!!!!1
No JD

What I am really hoping for are one or two of those deep, introspective songs like Outside or Looking In. I agree. I'd like less songs about love or losing love and more introspective songs or just plain fun songs. If Mariah did a really emotional track like "Hurt," I think it would be really huge. I think Mariah should bring it up a notch vocally. In a few tracks she did use her full voice throughout the entire song, but most of her singles didn't really show off her voice. I'd like her to use it on nearly the whole CD. However, I think Mariah's voice is beautiful in any range (eg all ranges in "FLAB"). No rappers! I don't think Mariah ever needed one for her singles to be a smash; she's far better solo. However, I'm sure she'll use them anyway. :\ I'd love a really hot uptempo like "Fantasy." I'd also like a ballad or two. I'm sure Mariah will put out something hot. "We Belong Together" and "Fly Like A Bird" are signs Mariah's going in the right direction.

I think Emancipation was perfect vocally. Not too soft-breathy, not too full voice.
I think "Petals" is her best song to date lyrically.
