8/27/04 Update - Shania Twain Set To Release Brand New Single On September 7, 2004 music trendsetter Shania Twain will release the much-anticipated new single, "Party for Two." Recorded with country newcomer Billy Currington, the single is one of three brand new songs from Shania Twain's Greatest Hits, Twain's first ever greatest hits album set for a November 9 release. When asked if he was nervous recording with the international superstar, Currington replied, "She was so gracious and kind. It was my first trip to Europe but both she and Mutt Lange made me feel at home. It was an experience of a lifetime - one I will never forget." Recently shot in Europe, the video for "Party for Two" stars both Twain and Currington and will begin airing in September. www.shania-twain.com/

wouldn't it have been nice to include at least 1 track from her debut album?
Will definitely be picking this up on release day, for sure.

The lyrics to "Party For Two" are: I’m having me a party, I don’t think I can come, this ain’t just any kind of party, I think I’ll stay at home It’s gonna be really, really hot It’s starting to sound good, I’m gonna put you on the spot, Baby, maybe I should, There’s gonna be lots of one on one, I guess I could be there, Come on and join the fun, What should I wear, I’ll tell you about it, It doesn’t matter what you wear, cause it’s only gonna be you and me there
Chorus: I’m having a party, a party for two, I ain’t inviting nobody, nobody but you.
You’ll be sexy in your socks, we could polish the floors, in case anybody knocks, let’s lock all the doors Yeah, all the things I’m gonna do, I’m gonna do with you, I’m gonna try something new, I wanna try it too I’ll tell you about it It doesn’t matt what I wear, cause it’s only gonna be, You and me there
Chorus
Yeah, you, I’m here, You’re there That’s all (we really need) We’re gonna party hardy Just you and me Don’t think about now Don’t even doubt it now I’m inviting you to a party for two
Come on baby, All the things I’m gonna do, I’m gonna do with you, I’m gonna try something new, I wanna try that too
I’ll tell you about it
It doesn’t matter what you wear Cause it’s only gonna be It’s only gonna be you and me Awww yeah,
A little bitty party baby Just me and you That’s right I ain’t inviting anybody, Nobody baby
Chorus
Come on, Come on Come on, Come on Come on, Come on, Come on Come on, Come on, yeah Come on, Come on, Come on Come on, Come on Come on, Come on, Come on Come on, Come on, yeah
Just you and me
That was great Let’s do it again!lounge.teamshania.com/showthread.php?t=5207

TWAIN SINGLE IMPACTING RADIO THIS WEEK Although no official date has been announced for the release of "Party For Two" by Shania Twain with Billy Currington, the first single from her upcoming Greatest Hits album, radio should have it in their hands this week...with it escaping to radio throughout the week and at all stations by Friday.

I Got a full complete version of the country version of Party for two, that i got off the first site of google search, it appears to be a radio aol rip version but sounds rather good. Anyhow I can't stop listening to it, and i want to hear the rock version now. Is there anyway to get it off real player and transfer into other format? All the samples that are all on net now only give the first 30 seconds of song!@ Let us all know whoever finds a site that has the whole song to burn!
Much love DavidSask

The POP version of "Party For Two," the version with Shania and Mark McGrath, is supposed to be premiered on the tv show "EXTRA" on Monday, September 6 OR Monday, September 13.There is some confusion on which Monday the "Party For Two" segment, including a possible Video premiere for the song, will air. Go here to learn more about the confusion... lounge.teamshania.com/showthread.php?t=5219If you need to know when and-or what channel "Extra" airs on in your area, go to the following site. extratv.warnerbros.com/v2/about/whenitson.html

I heard the pop version of Party For Two last night on the radio and really don't know what to think of it. I'm going to have to hear it a few more times to get a better feel for it

I don't think it's the best Shania uptempo track or anything, but fun enough.
Shania didn't connect with pop last time out, so we'll see if it warms to the pop version of this track.

39* on the Billboard Country chart. It's Shania's third-highest debut on the chart.

The POP version of "Party For Two," the version with Shania and Mark McGrath, is supposed to be premiered on the tv show "EXTRA" on.... If you need to know when and-or what channel "Extra" airs on in your area, go to the following site. extratv.warnerbros.com/v2/about/whenitson.htmlThis information turned out to be (sort of) incorrect. The POP version of "Party for Two" with Shania and Mark McGrath is still expected to be shown on "Extra." The only question is WHEN. If it is indeed still going to be aired on "Extra," then I expect it to be shown SOON. Mark McGrath has already started co-hosting "Extra." They said that Mark would be bringing the Video footage of him and Shania with him when he joined the show.

Yes it has. Check back on Sunday and I will post my charts. Actually, this week has been a very good week. Spins have maxed previous peek, audience is on the rise (finally) and 91 stations have added it.

BILLY CURRINGTON'S BACK-TO-BACK EURO-TRIPS TO RECORD DUET AND VIDEO WITH SHANIA
A few weeks back Billy Currington was advised that he was going to get an important phone call and they couldn't tell him who would be on the phone. "It's an important person," they assured him, "so answer the phone."
"The next day the phone rang and I instantly recognized the sweet voice of Shania on the line," Currington said. Shania told him she and Mutt had found a song that they thought his voice would be perfect to sing on with her and would he be interested in coming to Switzerland to sing on it?
Of course, Currington said yes and he was soon on a plane to Geneva where he was met and taken to a studio near Geneva to record, "Party For Two." "I didn't get to go to their castle, or chateau I'd heard so much about," Billy said with mock disappointment.
"Mutt and Shania couldn't have been sweeter to me. We sang the song through 6 or 7 times, they said it was great...and I turned right back around and was back on a plane to the U.S."
Billy says within a few days he was back on a plane again, headed to London, this time for a two-day video shoot for "Party For Two." "We filmed 17 hours one day and 24 hours the next. And I tell you, Shania is so smart and really knows what she wants," Currington observed.

More on the other new tracks
That Shania is quite the two-timer. "Hey, Billy, I'm having a party. Wanna come?" she coos at the start of her new single, "Party for Two." This invitation is to her duet partner, country newcomer Billy Currington. But wait! Further into her upcoming collection, she's purring, "Hey, Mark, I'm having a party..."--Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath being the lucky duck who joins her in the pop mix of the same tune. These are two of four new tracks on her Greatest Hits. Let the hoi polloi lust after her hits (all 17 of them). To the bubblegum aficionados among us, Twain and husband/producer Mutt Lange are the new Queen and King of Pop, turning out ear candy like no one since ABBA. That's why we're craving the new confections, which will also include the ballad "Don't!" and "I Ain't No Quitter," a country foot stomper harking back to her twangier days. "These songs would've been the beginning of my next record," says Twain. "They're really strong, and I've got mixed feelings, because it would've been great to have that power behind [an all-new] album. But I need the space to write and I don't want to disappear for another two years." That's okay--junkies for hooks that we are, we'll take our fix in whatever dribs and drabs Twain offers. Swiss Miss Shania tells the Sun 'home' is in Europe -- sorry, Canada and New Zealand By JANE STEVENSON, TORONTO SUN SHANIA TWAIN sees no end in sight for her status as a Swiss Miss. The Canadian country-pop superstar and her mega-producer husband, "Mutt" Lange, may be in the process of buying a multimillion-dollar ranch in New Zealand, but she says she plans to raise their 3-year-old son son, Eja, in her adopted home of Switzerland. "It's just a property to visit, this is our home," said Twain, 39, yesterday in an exclusive Canadian print interview with the Toronto Sun in Montreux. "We're not moving. We're staying here. Eja will go to school here. I look forward to it. He speaks French fluently. It's his first language." There has been some controversy over Twain's plans to relocate a public hiking trail off her new Kiwi property but reporters were told not to ask the singer about either her New Zealand land purchase or her half-brother Daryl's recent arrest on drug trafficking in Edmonton. The actual reason media from around the world had descended upon Montreux Palace -- a gilded 100-year-old hotel on the banks of Lake Geneva and near Twain's chateau in the exclusive neighbourhood of Tour-de-Peilz -- is this past week's release of her new single, Party For Two. The first cut off a 21-song greatest hits collection, due in stores Nov. 9, hit radio stations in Canada last week. The singer said the song itself, which was recorded in two versions -- a country rendition with Savannah, Ga., newcomer Billy Currington and a pop take with Sugar Ray frontman and now Extra host Mark McGrath -- recalls the vibe from her last multi-platinum album, 2002's Up! "Party For Two is kind of picking up where I left off," said Twain, who has sold close to 80 million albums worldwide. "It's a pretty typical Shania-type lyric and feel. And there's not really a gap between the last CD and this CD per se. I just got off the road so the flow just continued." 'FLIRTY SONG' Still to come is the soon-to-be released video, which she just finished editing, and sees Twain swinging from the chandeliers, even though the clip was shot outside in a London, England, park at night. "It's very interesting. It's cool. We smash dishes. We swing from the chandelier. It's really fun. "It's a party right? You know, it's really just a fun, flirty song. You know it's not sexual. It's a party. It's very flirty but obviously when we get there we just have fun 'cause I'm not into that kind of sexual thing." On the subject of filming, Twain did say she enjoyed shooting her cameo in Los Angeles over one day on the David O. Russell film, I (Heart) Huckabees, which was just shown at the Toronto International Film Festival. Normally, Twain doesn't accept any scripts because she simply doesn't have time for them. But one of the stars, Jude Law, personally wrote to her and asked for her to appear. "Isn't that nice?" said Twain, dressed casually in a black hoodie, grey shirt and black pants with matching black boots. "So, I thought that was really cute and sweet." Twain's scene finds her beating up Law's character for lying that he knows her throughout the movie. "It was such a great experience 'cause I've never been on a set before. All I had to do was slap Jude Law around a little bit and get mad at him. It was fun." 'UNSETTLING' As for the two-hour CBC-TV movie about her early life, set to start filming tomorrow in Sudbury, Ont., Twain said she has no involvement in it. "I'm not really crazy about the idea because if it's not correct (the public will) get the wrong idea of what my life is all about -- so that's a little unsettling," said Twain, who was raised in Timmins, Ont. "And who portrays you too, I mean what if they don't portray you (right)." On that front, Twain was more than willing to check out a photo of the girl, Meredith Henderson best known for YTV's The Adventures Of Shirley Holmes, cast to play her. "I don't know who she is. She sure looks lovely. She looks nice. I mean I'm sure she'll do the best job that she can. She's only going to take direction from whoever's directing." Twain said she is coming to Toronto to do promotion after she performs Party For Two live for the first time at the Country Music Awards in Nashville on Nov. 9. There won't be a tour, however, to go with her greatest hits collection. "I just got off the road. I'm not going back out for a while. My bus is parked. It's in Timmins. It's on display. I gave it to the (Shania Twain) museum to display until I need it again. So people can go walk on it and check it out." www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/TorontoSun/News/2004/09/19/634953.html
