Just checked Shania's Mediabase airplay- some impressive numbers this woman has. Her 14 most-played tracks are played more than Britney Spears' most-played recurrent (pre-In the Zone). :o For the record, it's Sometimes, with a mere 65 spins in the past week. Ony comparing the two, since they both have greatest hits albums being released.
Pre-Up! Most-Played Tracks in last Week (at all formats)-: 1. You're Still the One: 1,407 spins 2. Man! I Feel Like a Woman: 1,044 spins 3. That Don't Impress Me Much: 904 spins 4. From This Moment On: 764 spins 5. Any Man of Mine: 587 spins 6. (If You're Not In It For Love) I'm Outta Here: 512 spins 7. Honey I'm Home: 411 8. Whose Bed Have Your Boots Benn Under: 347 spins 9. Love Gets Me Every Time: 208 10. You've Got a Way: 153 spins 11. Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You): 143 spins 12. No One Needs to Know: 114 spins 13. Come on Over: 81 spins 14. You Win My Love: 74 spins
Other hits: Rock This Country (7 spins), Dance With the One... (6 spins), Home Ain't... (3 spins), I'm Holdin' Out For Love (3 spins)

I hope she has more than one new song on it. According to USA Today, there will be 3 new songs.

that Shania's forthcoming compilation could rival Madonna's legendary Immaculate Collection as one of the definitive female compilation/era-defining albums. :eek (not just talking about commercial success). Her music continues to thrive, and her music really gave a refreshing "attitude" to country music.

According to USA Today, there will be 3 new songs. That's correct. So far, all news sources in and out of country music are saying that Shania's "Greatest Hits" cd will contain three new songs.

Is it Nov. 9? For some reason I thought it was Nov. 16 First it was November 23rd, then the rumor changed to November 16th, now it is "officially" November 9th!!( The same day as the CMAs, coincidence? I don't think so!! )

Just for the record, November 23 was the first "official" date for her Greatest Hits album -- supplied by her Canadian label and reported by MuchMoreMusic.... and now it has been moved up to the firm date of November 9.Β Unwise move, but that's another story.

Shania Twain First Ever Greatest Hits Album in Stores November 9, 2004 Press Release Source: Mercury Records Nashville Thursday August 26, 6:01 am ET NASHVILLE, Tenn., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Shania Twain's Greatest Hits, the first ever greatest hits album from the multi-Grammy, platinum-selling artist will be released November 9, 2004. The 21-track album will consist of Twain's chart-topping hits, as well as three brand new songs. Twain has celebrated 16 top ten career hits -- 10 of which have reached the top five and 8 secured the elite no. 1 spot. With her most recent album UP! earning certification of 10x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, Twain is the only artist in history to have three consecutive 10x platinum certified albums. The other two being The Woman In Me (12x platinum) and Come On Over (19x platinum). "Party for Two," the first single to be released to radio, is recorded in two versions. In one version, Twain pairs with Sugar Ray front man Mark McGrath, the other with country newcomer Billy Currington. Videos for both versions were recently filmed in Europe and are scheduled to begin airing in September. "I wanted to put together all of my favorite songs from over the years for a fun, high energy album. This record is exactly that, as well as a dedication to all of the passionate fans that have enjoyed and supported me throughout the years," exclaims Twain. Twain's recently wrapped 2003-2004 UP! Tour reached nearly $80 million overall in ticket sales for North America. The 2004 leg alone brought in over $34 million, making this leg of Twain's tour the top grossing country tour of 2004. Shania Twain's Greatest Hits track listing (in sequence order): "Forever and For Always" "I'm Gonna Getcha Good" "UP!" "Come On Over" "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" "That Don't Impress Me Much" "From This Moment" "Honey, I'm Home" "You're Still The One" "Don't Be Stupid" "Love Gets Me Every Time" "No One Needs To Know" "You Win My Love" "I'm Outta Here" "The Woman In Me" "Any Man Of Mine" "Whose Bed Have Your Boots" "Party for Two' (with Mark McGrath)" "Don't!" "Party for Two (with Billy Currington)" "I Ain't No Quitter" Universal Music Group is the world's largest music company with wholly owned record operations or licensees in 71 countries. Predictions for how well this Greatest Hits Package Will Sell? Atleast 50X Platinum I'd say..... Well I think it could sell similar to Usher's current album.

Predictions for how well this Greatest Hits Package Will Sell? Atleast 50X Platinum I'd say..... Well I think it could sell similar to Usher's current album. I don't know. It would need a very strong single to get past triple platinum. The problem is everyone already has all of Shania's albums. "Come on Over" is 19 times platinum, while "The Woman in Me" is 11 or 12 times platinum. Wh buy another CD if you already have the songs in your collection. Her die-hard fans will buy it and it will be a popular holiday gift, but without a strong single, I see it falling fast.

Three New Cuts Join Twain's 'Greatest' A trio of new songs will appear among the first collection of Shania Twain's "Greatest Hits." Due Nov. 9 from Mercury, the 21-track set will be led by the single "Party for Two," which appears on the album in two different versions. Twain recorded one take of "Party" with Sugar Ray vocalist Mark McGrath, while another was completed with country newcomer Billy Currington. Videos for both versions were recently shot in Europe. The other new cuts on "Greatest Hits" are "Don't!" and "I Ain't No Quitter." The rest of the disc consists of tracks from Twain's 1995 breakthrough, "The Woman in Me" and follow-up albums 1997's "Come on Over" and 2002's "UP!," all released via Mercury. There are no tracks representing her 1993 self-titled debut. Among the featured songs are "Any Man of Mine," "(If You're Not In it for Love) I'm Outta Here" and "No One Needs To Know," all of which reached No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. "I wanted to put together all of my favorite songs from over the years for a fun, high energy album," Twain says in a statement. "This record is exactly that, as well as a dedication to all of the passionate fans that have enjoyed and supported me throughout the years." Here is the track list for Twain's "Greatest Hits": "Forever and for Always" (from "UP!") "I'm Gonna Getcha Good" (from "UP!") "UP!" (from "UP!") "Come on Over" (from "Come on Over") "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" (from "Come on Over") "That Don't Impress Me Much" (from "Come on Over") "From This Moment On" (from "Come on Over") "Honey, I'm Home" (from "Come on Over") "You're Still the One" (from "Come on Over") "Don't Be Stupid" (from "Come on Over") "Love Gets Me Every Time" (from "Come on Over") "No One Needs To Know" (from "The Woman in Me") "You Win My Love" (from "The Woman in Me") "(If You're Not in It for Love) I'm Outta Here" (from "The Woman in Me") "The Woman in Me" (from "The Woman in Me") "Any Man of Mine" (from "The Woman in Me") "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under" (from "The Woman in Me") "Party for Two" (with Mark McGrath) "Don't!" "Party for Two" (with Billy Currington) "I Ain't No Quitter" www.billboard.com/bb/daily/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000619673

I wonder if the Don't song near the end is Whatever you do! Don't! I really liked that song off of Come On Over and hoped she would release it. Maybe now she will.

HUGE. It doesn't matter that she has such huge-sellign albums, really. This ia a collection of pretty darn good tunes, and she's again reaching different audiences by having two versions of the first single). Tracklisting looks good.

The reason I think this will be BIG is because even though so many already have her albums, for the non-diehard this is an opprotunity to get only the songs you like on one cd, instead of buying the album for one song.

Are you talking about initial chart run, TCorey?
I can definitely see this album selling for years and years after its initial chart run.

I disagree. Esp. in the case of COO there were so many hits that 5-6 would leave out some great stuff. If this GH is to be done right, all the singles should be included, excluding her debut album. If people want all of her COO singles, they'll get her COO CD.

Another article talking about the "Greatest Hits" news Shania Rocks Out And Twangs Up On Greatest Hits Disc Thursday August 26, 2004 @ 05:30 PM By: ChartAttack.com Staff For millions, Shania Twain helped make country music seem somewhat palatable by masking it with standard rock hooks and sexing it up in a way Dollyβs big bazoombas never could. The video for "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" alone was enough to make most men say, "Yβknow, countryβs not that badβ¦" Now the Canadian country popstar is set to release her first Greatest Hits album after recently finishing up her top grossing country tour for UP! With four full-length studio albums under her belt, Twain has enough diamonds to make Elizabeth Taylor blush. 1995βs The Woman In Me and 1997βs Come On Over were both certified two-times diamond in Canada while 2002βs UP! Has reached the almost unreachable status now as well. Thatβs one million albums sold per diamond rating, buck-o and Twain is the only artist in the history of artists to have three diamond-certified albums in Canada. Sloan, who? Tragically Hip, what? Shania Twain, all right! The 21-track album features her career-spanning chart toppers, a bunch of songs we've never heard of and three new tracks, one of which is done twice over. The majority of the songs on the Greatest Hits album come from The Woman In Me and Come On Over, with only one or two off UP! and none from her 1993 self-titled debut release. And here I thought "Dance With The One That Brought You" was a sure classic. New tracks include "Donβt!," "Party For Two" and the grammatically incorrect "I Ainβt No Quitter" with "Party" emerging as the first single. Twice over. The single (double?) features Twain alongside a Choose Your Own Adventure vocalist, either Mark McGrath or Billy Currington depending on your mood at the time. The Sugar Ray frontman and country newcomer both filmed videos with Twain for their respective versions as record execs undoubtably sit back wondering whether they should market Twain as more rock or more country on the next album. The tracklisting for Twainβs Greatest Hits album is: "Forever And For Always" "I'm Gonna Getcha Good" "UP!" "Come On Over" "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" "That Don't Impress Me Much" "From This Moment On" "Honey, I'm Home" "You're Still The One" "Don't Be Stupid" "Love Gets Me Every Time" "No One Needs To Know" "You Win My Love" "(If You're Not in It for Love) I'm Outta Here" "The Woman In Me" "Any Man Of Mine" "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under" "Party For Two" (with Mark McGrath) "Don't!" "Party For Two" (with Billy Currington) "I Ain't No Quitter" βDavid Missio www.chartattack.com/damn/2004/08/2608.cfm

Garth Brooks' The Hits sold- it is certified for 10 million in shipments- and his albums also sold like ghangbusters. His album was "limited," but his past sales sure didn't stop people from eating up his GH.
Would it be out of the ordinary if Shania's album reaches such heights down the road? Absolutely not.

If promoted well and if the first single does pretty well I think this GH album will deffinitely reach 10X Platinum.
I really like Shania Twain but have never felt compelled enough to buy one of her albums but because all of her hits will be included on the GH then i'll deffinitely be buying it and I think many other people will act in the same way.
