Metallica's Lars Ulrich has exclusively revealed to Kerrang! magazine that the band's new material has an "old-school" Metallica flavor. I'd love for that to be the case. At this point, I gotta hear it to believe it.

I am looking foward to the new CD. I am not the biggest Metallica fan on the planet, but I am a fan. I am also a Rick Ruben fan, so it will be interesting to see what comes out of the collaboration.

Rick Ruben seems to have the magic touch. I like some Metallica, but I don't really follow them closely, so it will be interesting to see what is the 'pure' Metallica sound that RR wants to bring out. I have been reading blurbs about this CD for over a year, so they are certainly taking their time.

Sweden bans Metallica baby (Wednesday April 04, 2007 12:49 AM) A Swedish couple are locked in a dispute with authorities after calling their daughter Metallica. Tax officials are understood to have objected to Michael and Karolina Tomaro's choice of name for their six-month-old girl, deeming it "inappropriate". The law in Sweden insists that parents must get approval of both first and second names officially, in a bid to avoid what they consider offensive or unsuitable choices. The Tomaro family have received no objections from Goteburg's County Administrative Court but are now experiencing problems getting Metallica a passport. Karolina Tomaro explained: "We've had to cancel trips and can't get anywhere because we can't get her a passport without an approved name." The tax authorities are understood to have blocked the application and referred it to a higher court, reports the BBC. A number of other Swedish residents are understood to have experienced similar problems in recent years with the government's rules. One couple were apparently unsuccessful in a bid to name their son Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116 in 1996. uk.news.launch.yahoo.com/dyna/article.html?a=/070404/340/h3reo.html&e=l_news_dm

I am beginning to wonder if we are ever going to get this album. Billboard has been doing articles on the making of this album for what seems like forever.
I am glad the guys are getting along so well, but maybe they need some anger to speed things up. :o

Metallica baby joy(Friday April 20, 2007 03:33 PM) A Swedish family who were told they could not call their child Metallica have successfully had the decision reversed. Earlier this month, it emerged that tax officials in Gothenburg had objected to Michael and Karolina Tomaro's choice of name for their six-month-old girl. Apparently deeming it "inappropriate", the news made it impossible for the Tomaro family to take little Metallica abroad, as she could not get a passport. However, authorities are now understood to have relented and withdrawn their objections, after the case was discussed by the county court. Metallica's mother, Karolina, has spoken of her relief at the decision: "It feels good", she told Göteborgs-Posten. "Several people suggested I should move to where they live, because then our daughter wouldn't have any problem in being named Metallica", she explained.

Metallica confirm new album details They're aiming to release it next yearMetallica drummer Lars Ulrich has confirmed that the band have completed the backing tracks for their ninth studio album. During an interview at Belgium's Rock Werchter Festival, Ulrich confirmed that Metallica are aiming to release the follow-up to 2003's 'St Anger' in February 2008. "It doesn't sound like 'St. Anger' to me," he told Studio Brussel. "It's a little early to kind of put in a soundbite exactly. But it doesn't sound anything like 'St. Anger'. "It's probably a little more dynamic, and a little more varied, and it has lots of different nutty Metallica stuff on it." The band are currently in the midst of touring the European festival circuit. They're set to play Live Earth at London's Wembley Stadium on July 7.

What did you say about James Hetfield's look, already? Hetfield Held Up for 'Taliban' Beard(July 9) -- Metallica's Live Earth performance almost faded to black before it even happened, thanks to British airport officials who held their lead singer at a terminal because of his "Taliban-like beard." According to the British newspaper The Times, as reported by the New Zealand Herald, metal pioneer James Hetfield was held up and subjected to a line of questioning due to his facial hair following a tense week in the United Kingdom after foiled terror plots and an attack in Scotland. ;)
