TONI BRAXTON AUCTIONS BUNNIES FOR AUTISMToni Braxton bounced into the Big Apple to open bidding for the second Lindt Gold Bunny Celebrity Auction on Wednesday (March 30). The Grammy-winning singer posed in a flowing purple gown while kissing chocolate Easter bunnies. Collectors and fans can bid on 85 porcelain Lindt Gold Bunny figures autographed by celebrities including Toni, Fergie, Nick Cannon, Celine Dion, and more, with all proceeds benefitting Autism Speaks. The autism advocacy organization holds a special place in the mother of two’s heart. “As a mother of a son with autism, this is a cause that I am very passionate about,” stated Toni. “I’m excited to be a part of the Lindt Gold Bunny Celebrity Auction, and honored to have the opportunity to help raise funds and awareness for Autism Speaks.” See more of Toni and her family when her docu-series “Braxton Family Values” premieres April 12 on WE tv. Such a beautiful gown!

Another sneak preview clip: OMG @ What Tamar wants to do! WOW. This show is such a fucked up mess. I love it. Completely at these: "Whenever Tamar speaks, it's like you're going to the city dump...you never know what crap you will encounter." and "My sister Tamar wants to adopt an Asian baby, raise it as a black woman and name it Disney."

April 11, 2011 Toni Braxton's decade-long record sales slumpToni Braxton is hoping to reverse a decade-long record sales slide with a new reality show, her third, called "Braxton Family Values." A story in today's paper looks at Braxton's career and why she ended up on a reality TV show on We TV, the network responsible for "Bridezillas" and "Joan Knows Best?" It's a long way from the singer's stratospheric success in the 90s, but it was, in many ways, an inevitable fall. Braxton's "Secrets" has sold a career high of 5.4 million copies since its release in 1996, according to Nielsen Soundscan. The Recording Industry Association of America has certified it eight times platinum. It's the kind of blockbuster that made her an international name but also one that set an absurdly high benchmark to overcome. All of her other albums - including her self-titled debut, which has also been certified several times platinum by the RIAA - have had fewer listeners. In fact, since the 2000s, Braxton, who became synonymous with 90s pop, has been shedding listeners by the millions, so that now she's played mostly in oldies stations like Baltimore's Magic 95.9, where she's one of its core artists. "Toni's no longer hip," says Tim Watts, a DJ at the station. "She's basically an adult contemporary artist now. The 35 to 50 bracket is now where her audience is." At a station where Luther Vandross (dead) and Anita Baker (53) are the No. 1 and No. 2 most-played artists, the 43-year-old Severn native is in the top ten, Watts says. Like many of her 90s contemporaries - Janet Jackson, Boys II Men, Whitney Houston - Braxton's at a generational impasse. "There's a bunch of them that I could mention that are caught between the hip hop crowd and older audiences," Watts says. Gail Mitchell, a senior R&B editor at Billboard magazine, says they have all struggled to evolve. Instead of playing to their roots, Braxton and others have unsuccessfully tried to stay relevant with a tougher, more hip-hop friendly sound than what made them fan favorites to begin with. "It's material," Mitchell says. "You can't pretend to be something you're not. You can't go back and try to appeal to the kids by being a copy of what's out there. You have to stay true to who you are." Braxton's decline in currency can be seen in her sales figures, below: Braxton's album sales: "Toni Braxton" (1993): 5,135,000 "Secrets" (1996): 5,364,000 "Heat" (2000): 2,093,000 "Snowflakes" (2001): 243,000 "More than a Woman" (2002): 438,000 "Libra" (2005): 441,000 "Pulse" (2010): 145,000 (Figures according to Nielsen Soundscan) This makes "Heat," released over a decade ago, her last major hit. Instead of trying to remain relevant, Watts suggests Braxton embrace her new image. "She's transitioning from being the hip new artist in the 90s to being more settled. She's got family. She's gotta keep that image. She's no longer hot with the young crowd any more, she's got to start feeling the older crowd." Mitchell says it's not a matter of image, but of taste. Instead of working with hip hop producers, she should try to pursue a Harvey Mason Jr. - whose work with Jennifer Hudson pushed her new album, "I Remember Me" to the No. 2 slot on the Billboard 200. "If she finds writers or producers who can handle voices like hers, she can be contemporary and stay true to herself," Mitchell says. Braxton, however, has already taken that advice. Mason Jr. worked on her "Pulse" album, and it was still her lowest selling ever.

April 11, 2011 5:54 PM Will Toni Braxton pose for Playboy to pay off her bankruptcy?Posted by Melissa Castellanos Grammy-winning singer Toni Braxton may be making her comeback with more than her music and the launch of her new reality TV show, "Braxton Family Values" - she may be taking it all off for a spread in Playboy to pay off her bankruptcy. "I was really flattered, and they've asked me a few times in the past. But one of the reasons I'm excited is because after I was sick I just didn't feel sexy, I thought I lost my mojo, " Braxton told Wendy Williams on "The Wendy Williams Show" today. "When they asked me I was like, 'They think I'm sexy? My boobies hang down to here a little bit.' I was really flattered." So is she going to do it? "You know, I haven't decided. I have until June," she said. "One of the reasons I'm hesitant is because of my boys. I don't want them to go to school and have their friends to come to school and say, "I saw your mommy's boobies." Williams had an opinion about this of course - "Don't do it, she said. "And I'm going to tell you..." "It wouldn't be a full spread it wouldn't be like 'woo-hoo'!" Braxton jumped in, throwing her legs up in the air. "It doesn't matter and here's the thing, even if you didn't have children, even if you were totally single. My thought is that you've come too far to have to do that," Williams stressed. "We already know you have a great body. And besides Toni, that's not a lot of money, $100,000... That's bubble gum money compared to what the IRS allegedly wants." "I agree with that," Braxton admitted. The tabloids reported that Braxton filed for bankruptcy twice and that she owed the IRS $50 million dollars. Is that true? "Here's what happened. At first it was a business bankruptcy. But because I secured everything personally, I had to file. That's what happened. People don't understand that bankruptcy is for protection. So after I got ill from, you know, I have Lupus. My Lupus affects my heart and that's why I have heart disease..." So between the company and Braxton, she says she owes "maybe $500,000." "But what people don't understand is that's when I got ill. That was just one year, one year of my illness. That's all it was, it was a deferment, so all of a sudden it became a deferment and I owe taxes. But that's not the case," she said. "Because of the Vegas show. I got ill and had to cancel my Vegas show. I had to cancel all of my concerts and that's why I had to file for business bankruptcy, to protect myself."

'The Talk': The BraxtonsAll the Braxton sisters - Grammy-winning artist Toni Braxton, Traci, Towanda, Trina and youngest, Tamar sit on the couch to discuss their reality show. The ladies reveal the craziness of the family. Their parents just got divorced after 35 years of marriage. The dad remarried 30 days later. The mother hates the new wife. It is explosive. The fun quickly turns to tears when they discuss the DUI and ultimately the intervention the sisters had to have for Towanda. She was out of control and received a DUI. She also discovered that you can't take your wig into prison.

She said that because she's been taking care of alot of things, hopefully thats not the case, and she'll still record. Is she still with a major label?

I guess so...if Atlantic is considered a major label . Anyways i dont believe a word she says cuz she ALWAYS goes back on her word. I think she should go back to Arista/LaFace now that L.A Reid is back there cuz he's the best person to manage her career.

I think the improper handling of her albums has gotten to her. I agree! And it is so sad because both Libra and Pulse were good albums. I still can't get over Atlantic never sending "Hands Tied" to mainstream Urban. That is one of her best singles in YEARS! Anyway, I just saw the first episode online and OMG was it good. Tamar is really out of control. I don't believe she will ever get her solo off the ground (mostly due to her attitude--then age).

Tamar is really out of control. I don't believe she will ever get her solo off the ground (mostly due to her attitude--then age). Not to mention she's a Lil' Kim clone clown, and in the wake of Black Friday, that's certainly not a benefit. Tamar should consider herself lucky to have married into a piece of the GaGa pie, because having been a cut rate Tamia with a couple minor hits back in '99-'00 ain't recipe for shit in 2k11. Did y'all know she sings background vox on "Born This Way" tho? And speaking of Braxton sister's, Lady Gaga featured Tamar on a recent hit. Toni revealed, "Tamar and her, she sings stuff with her all the time, but she's been doing things on her album. Like the single that's out, Born [This] Way, that's Tamar you hear in the background." ...Toni mumbles incoherently...

I didn't know she sung background on BTW. Shes a little b!tch though, she needs to come down off this high.
But for Toni,i'd say go somewhere else cause Atlantic is doing her dirty as fuq.

'Braxton Family Values' Are Real On and Off Cameraby Associated Press | April 14, 2011 8:30 EDT If you think all the bickering the Braxtons do on their new series is for the benefit of the cameras, think again - it's definitely the real part of this reality show. The sisters proved as much after the cameras stopped rolling on the first season and they promoted the new WEtv show, "Braxton Family Values," with a visit to The Associated Press. As the five sisters - Toni, Traci, Towanda, Trina and Tamar - sat tightly together in a TV studio, getting touch-ups on their hair and make-up, there was obvious tension. Once the interview began, one-word or short answers were given. Shortly afterward, their publicist knocked on the door. "I just want to talk to them. Can we stop for a minute?" she asked. As the women went into another room, arguing was heard. But when they returned minutes later, they were all cheery - ready to promote their new show. When Toni re-answered why she decided to do the show, she said it was part of her "becoming 2011." She then checked in on her sisters for approval. "How am I doing ladies?" she asked. In unison they replied: "You're doing good." Toni, 43, is the family's shining star. Her first two albums sold eight million records each, while most of her others were multiplatinum or gold successes. She's won six Grammys, among other accolades, and more recently appeared on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars." The other sisters have tried to find success in music, but that's been a challenge. Tamar released her debut CD in 2000, and it peaked at No. 127 on the Billboard charts. She's married to Vincent Herbert, the record executive who discovered Lady Gaga; Herbert also manages Toni's career. Tamar, Towanda and Trina released an album as The Braxtons in 1996. Traci wasn't able to perform with the group since she became a mother at a young age and was devoted to her family. Now, Tamar and Trina sing back-up for Toni, Towanda works as Toni's assistant and Traci yearns a return to the stage. The sisters said they don't have a problem being eclipsed by their more famous sister. "It's always a comparison and it's always going to be a comparison forever and ever and ever," middle sister Towanda said. "You just have to be your own individual," added Tamar, the youngest of the clan at 34. Last year Toni filed bankruptcy for a second time and in 2009 she separated from her husband. She was forced to cancel a series of Las Vegas shows in 2008 after experiencing chest pains that were later diagnosed as microvascular angina, a heart disorder. The mother of two boys - her youngest is autistic - opened her doors to the world in 2003 for the VH1 reality special, "VH1 (Inside) Out: Toni Braxton - Family Comes First." Still, she says she was hesitant to let cameras back in her life on a larger scale. "I reneged a few times after I said, `Yes, we can do the show,'" she said. "But over time my sisters said, `...You have to become current. ... (Fans) want to feel like they're sitting in your living room and it's important that you convey that to your fans.'" "Braxton Family Values" airs Tuesdays at 9/8c.

I have a new found love for Toni. I remember back in 1993 when I was 8 when I curled myself up in my living room and listened to her debut. She has classic songs and I hope she's able to recapture her audience back with this show. My second favorite album since the 2000s will always be Libra.
