^^ agreed! She would have to sell at least 500k or ship that amount and I don't see it. Touring with a 30-35% cut would give her more money and faster. Heck Lauryn Hill is touring off of one album. Toni has hits spanning multiple albums. A few dates with 2-3k attendance and tickets around $50 bucks- 10 dates, she can easily pocket about $250-$300k. ;) A tour is WAY more profitable for all parties involved.

Had Pulse been released when the show was airing, I'm sure it would've fared better.

It's my understanding that an artist cuts varies from 29-35% if they take a percentage cut which is the norm. I don't know if any artist that gets 50%. and that 35% average cut doesn't include management fees/taxes etc. The promoter is usually responsible for the advertising, the venue and the like. Madonna is a bit different as her deal makes her responsible for all the expenses of her show which is quite high but her revenue gross is high as well. The extras are licensed merchandise but I don't see toni selling much t-shirts, mugs, keys and tour books. When her Lupus is in remission, she should be doing a few more dates. I hope to see this during the new season of their show and she needs to cut it out and use the show to continue to lift her profile.

Toni Braxton, Kenny Leon to join Georgia Music Hall of Fame11:47 am August 5, 2011, by Jennifer Brett The Georgia Music Fall of Fame in Macon shut down this summer after years of poor attendance, but the entity’s lack of a physical structure hasn’t scotched the 33rd annual Georgia Music Hall of Fame Awards. The show, you know, must go on. This year’s honorees include Toni Braxton, the singer turned reality show star; actor-director Kenny Leon, and vocal coach and music mentor Jan Smith, who counts Justin Bieber and Usher among her clients. Other honorees will be the group Mothers Finest and promoter Paul Cochran. Jazz cabaret star Judy Argo will be honored posthumously. “We are excited to continue recognizing Georgia’s outstanding contributions to the music industry and will continue the awards show as we have done for 32 years,” said Dr. Bobbie Bailey, president of Friends of Georgia Music Festival, Inc. “Our first ceremony was in 1979 when Ray Charles and Bill Lowery were inducted.” The event is planned for 8 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.

Toni Braxton Rumored to Return to BroadwayBy Michael Arceneaux Posted: 08/22/2011 03:00 AM EDT Singer will reportedly star in Chicago. If rumors of Toni Braxton netting less air time on the upcoming second season of Braxton Family Values are true, don’t worry about the multi-platinum recording star. Toni will reportedly return to Broadway in an adaptation of Chicago. It appears that the singer-cum-reality TV star might have a starring role in the long-running musical. According to That Grape Juice, Braxton, who also starred in Broadway's Aida and Beauty & The Beast, is in final negotiations to star as Roxy Hart in the long-running show. While there is no official word yet, the site says “word has it the ink is all but dry.” As Toni's fans wait on word about the singer’s next professional move, Braxton will join her sisters in the season two premiere of Braxton Family Values in November.

It looks like a really bad parody. Season 1 was hilarious. This just feels so excruciating to watch and that was just a 'teaser.'

Sigh. Should've been the 2nd single when they were testing it, Hands Tied and Make My Heart on RateTheMusic.

^I agree! Lookin' At Me is my favorite song on Pulse. If I could have picked the singles--Hand Ties, Looking At Me, Wardrobe, and Why Won't You Love Me, No way

LAM was wayyy better than that shitty MMH, but Toni at that point was more concerned with pandering to the gay crowd (which clearly didnt work)...oh well, i love her but i dont feel sorry for her cuz she herself ruined her career :(

To me, the sound / style of that record is similar to the songs on Secrets! However, I'm unsure of how the song would actually perform on radio. I think the only format that may have embraced it is AC.

I guess I should've clarified. The ONLY way I think If I have to Wait would've worked is if she had any kind of pop success with the songs before it. In my vision in my head
Hands Tied - develop a strong base on Urban AC (which she accomplished), and the actually SEND the song Urban radio (still mad they didn't do this!)
Looking At Me - now that she's got herself back on Urban radio, send something that's friendly enough for Urban but can also crossover to rhythmic and pop if it's successful. probably would've have been a big hit but...
Wardrobe - Definitely had potential to keep the momentum on Urban, and enough crossover potential to build on what Looking At Me set up
Then and only then would If I Have To Wait work on pop. And there's how Toni could've had 4 songs actually make it on the Hot 100.

Yeah, I can't believe she hasn't had a Hot 100-charting single since 2002's Hit The Freeway.
I still think Yesterday was a good single. I don't see why they never tried pushing the Pop-friendly album version to Pop.

Toni Braxton and BC Jean Sign to The Collectiveby Gail Mitchell, L.A. | September 06, 2011 5:05 EDT Los Angeles-based entertainment/production company The Collective has signed Grammy Award-winning singer Toni Braxton and up-and-coming singer/songwriter BC Jean for worldwide career management. The announcement follows the company's recent signing of singer/actress and Destiny's Child founding member Kelly Rowland. A six-time Grammy winner, including best new artist, Braxton stars with her sisters on the WEtv reality series "Braxton Family Values," which has been renewed for a second season. The R&B singer's most recent album was 2010's Pulse. The project, Braxton's fifth top 10 on the Billboard 200 (debuted/peaked at No. 9) and fourth No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, has sold 149,000 according to Nielsen SoundScan. Craig Baumgarten of Santa Monica, Calif.-based Baumgarten Management & Productions, continues to represent Braxton for film and television. Jean, best known for penning the Beyoncé hit "If I Were a Boy," is currently working on her debut pop/rock album for RCA Music Group/Sony Music. Her latest single, "I'll Survive You," follows up last year's single "Just a Guy." Jean stars as well in the Alloy Entertainment ("Gossip Girl," "Pretty Little Liars") web series "Talent" as up-and-coming singer/songwriter Harper.

Quick Flicks: Toni Braxton Inducted Into The Georgia Music Hall of FamePosted by Fresh on September 19, 2011 Don’t be fooled. Usher hasn’t fallen madly in love with a knifed up transvestite. Not this time at least. Toni Braxton was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame this weekend at the 33rd annual ceremony at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta. The stunning Toni Braxton showed no signs of age as she was inducted by Gov. Nathan Deal after her sisters allegedly bailed on their scheduled performance (look for the drama to unfold on next season’s “Braxton Family Values”). The “Un-Break My Heart” singer, who was born in Maryland and moved Atlanta in the ‘90s, showed her appreciation by singing a line from “Georgia on My Mind.” (Rap-Up) MORE PICS
