Latoya London has just officially signed with Concord Records *the company behind Ray Charles and Barry Manilow*. She's signed to Concords' 'Peak Records' which specialises in adult orientated contemporary music. Concord Website: www.concordrecords.com/default.aspTopic title changed.

She'll probably have no success whatsoever but I'm glad she's on the label Ray Charles was on. I'd love to hear her do some jazzy urban adult music.

Well, hopefully Latoya's album does atleast as well as what Anita Baker's current album is doing.
Hopefully Concord properly push/promote Latoya to radio.

That's exactly who Latoya has always reminded me of and I didn't want to say it because I didn't want to sound like a psycho Anita fan. She even looks a little like Anita when she was her age. Latoya belongs doing that kind of music.

I'm glad Latoya was signed to Concord Records as I've just stumbled across Regina Belle and she has an amazing voice.

When will all the american idol rejects face the fact that they will not have success. Considering the label she signed to, she's going for quality over quantity, something most of the other idol contestants have yet to learn. That sets LaToya apart. :)

That would be great, and a nice fit for her voice. I think the "quality over quantity" approach would work best for her to establish herself.

Thank goodness she avoided 19! This is great news for Latoya. She was asked during the AI tour whether she had a record deal and she responded that she was writing music and preparing herself for an opportunity. She said that she favored Sade-type music. I hope we will get a chance to hear some of her own songs. LaToya has seen another highly regarded, 4th place AI finalist have a rough go in the sales category, so hopefully she will learn from that. IMO, she is much more talented than Tamyra and has a shot to do better than either Tamyra or Kim Locke.

Her official website says that she was signed to Concord/Peak. According to the Peak website, Peak will sign artists whose releases will be marketed and distributed through a joint venture with Concord. So perhaps that's what's going to happen with LaToya? In any case, this is great news -- congrats to LaToya, and I'm looking forward to her debut release!

Now that would definitely be something worth listening to! I'm personally not into the monotonous sound of the new-school R&B. Something like Sade or classic Anita Baker would be a welcome addition to the music scene. I think LaToya has a great voice - she occasionally had issues with staying on pitch with held-out notes, but it is something she can easily fix.

jdanton2,
Latoya being signed to Peak on Concord is like Avril Lavigne being signed to Arista on BMG.
Right?
