Matthew Dear - upcoming album & material as False for M-nus
Detroit-based Matthew Dear released a number of 12-inches under his own name for Ghostly International spinoff Spectral Sound (most recently the highly acclaimed “Mouth to Mouth” single), under the aliases False on Plus 8 and Jabberjaw for Perlon.
His plans for 2007 include an artist album as Matthew Dear, featuring his signature experimental-pop music and his talents on several instruments. The full-length is scheduled for release early this summer.
According to the Newcity Chicago Magazine he explains his experimental project as follows: “It’s what I’ve learned from producing techno music and electronic music, but I’m applying those techniques to recording guitars and bass and drums… doing more repetitive, loop-based rock music.” He will sing with a live band to promote this album in the fall, and these shows will likely happen at more traditional stage venues than at dance clubs. Even though Dear will also continue touring throughout 2007 with DJ sets, where you’re just as likely to hear house classics as the latest tracks by contemporary minimal techno producers like Onur Özer, Bruno Pronsato, Ryan Crosson, Seth Troxler and Lee Curtis.
Furthermore he will continue releasing singles throughout the year, and has mid-summer plans to release a new single as False on the Minus label.
Finally he revealed to Newcity Chicago Magazine that he plans to move to New York during the summer emphasizing that he still wants to stay in the States. In his opinion it´s important to be “a young new artist in America” because “techno forefathers” like Dan Bell and Richie Hawtin already relocating to Berlin.

Of course they're moving to Berlin, Matt, dear (hardy-har! ). Who wouldn't move to a place where rents are relatively cheap, has an ever moving and exciting club scene and gives you the possibility of giving you some recognition and making a living making abstract music you can actually dance to? Only fools, I guess.
Nevertheless, keep that music coming, Matt! Leave Luck To Heaven sure was one of my favorite 2003 albums, the Audion album you made in 2005 really ripped s**t up and "Mouth To Mouth" is already lining up to be a classic techno track, so f**king brilliant it is! Just don't repeat the same unfunny live-act you made two years ago that almost left my ears bleeding, OK?
