Don’t forget Taylor co-wrote “Whatever You Want” for Tina Turner which was a decent hit in Europe. In, Taylor should have produced a quick follow up to Can’t Fight Fate to keep the momentum going and let the Clive Davis machine do it’s thing. She could have easily sat back and had the same amount of hits Celine Dion had in the 90’s. I always heard that Arista rejected the first version of what would be SD, which is the reason it was delayed and that CGEOYL was a late addition because the album really didn't have 'hit' material. Yes, and he had her cover the Barry White classic to ensure a modest hit.

I definitely understand artists wanting artistic freedom and such, but that often isn’t in line with what will do well commercially. Labels are of course interesting in selling music because that’s how they stay in business. Ideally there is a happy medium between the two.

I never got Taylor’s second album. I was 12 at the time it came out and remember being slightly disappointed with the singles except “Love Will Lead You Back”. I liked the songs but didn’t love them. However I was into a decent amount of “Soul Dancing”. I loved the “Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love, Send Me A Lover, I’ll Wait and “Say A Prayer”. I also liked “Memories” and a couple of others. I guess it was the more rock edge/Hot Ac sound she went for that I wasn’t as into. Because her debut was Great!

On Taylor’s Apple Music Essentials Playlist, she smartly included her re-recorded masters many times. They don’t sound as good as the originals but anyway to screw the record company people who screwed her over is good with me.

She looks absolutely stunning and as beautiful today as she did back in 1990 belting out “I’ll Be Your Shelter”.

^She turned 60 earlier this month. More importantly, her voice has held up all these years later.

Revisiting the Soul Dancing deluxe edition for that fire collection of remixes as I do once a year. But every time, I end up gravitating towards the brilliant ‘Dance With a Stranger’. Firmly believe her major label career would’ve continued to thrive if it followed CGEOYL as a single release.

I always loved that one and " I Could Be Good For You" and felt they were the strongest album cuts.

Show was very enjoyable. So glad she performed "Heart of Stone." :) All-4-One (was All-3-One, though, as one member was ill) was fun, too.

I love her so much. Her CT show was simply amazing. Her voice was astounding and really tore the roof off the theater! And she was so gracious and kind to the crowd. I’ve been on high listening to her catalog since the show. She’s coming back to town an hour away from me next month. I might just go again! 😊

^Very nice. Aside from sounding great, she also looks great in person. Like some others, sometimes images she posts on social media do not do her justice. She wore a black dress/outfit in Philly. Did she perform "With Every Beat of My Heart" in CT? Though it would be the opener, as I think the music was mixed in there, though she opened with "Do You Want It Right Now." EDIT: She actually did start with the chorus of "With Every Beat of My Heart" before going into "Do You Want It Right Now." The excitement clouded my memory, I suppose.

Sorry for the late reply! Yes it was exactly that. I was pleasantly surprised she opened with such a deep cut! My favorite part of the night was hearing her tear the roof off with “I’ll Wait.” Since the show was a double bill with Tiffany, I don’t think we got her full set list but I’m fixing that since I got tickets for her solo Middletown, NY show this Saturday! 😃
A little throwback Thursday to get ready for the weekend.

RuPaul has overexposed drag so much with that tired show and I’m completely over it. What used to be a cool part of gay nightlife underground culture is now just another way for TV production companies, streaming services, and for RuPaul himself to get rich. Sorry for sounding like a bitter old queen but I miss the old days. And seeing Taylor Dayne, one of the greatest singers of my lifetime having to drag up and lip synch in order to get some TV exposure should be a crime. America doesn’t value or revere older female artists the way other countries do!

She along with Chris Kirkpatrick and Joey Fatone are going to be grand marshalls of my hometown's upcoming WinterFest boat parade.
