Releasing a greatest hits would eat into the sales of the albums, but it would be a better way to celebrate her career. SMH.

I thought they had a '3rd album' almost ready...is this not that?

There are two songs recorded after Back To Black that could even be considered for a third album. It must have been nowhere near ready. :(

I thought I remember reading that they had a few albums worth of material?

OOOOOhhhhh... I'll be looking out for that. I put a picture of Amy Winehouse on my Dia De Los Muertos altar. R.I.P., girl.

"Our Day Will Come" and "Like Smoke" both premiered on British radio this morning. The album cover was shot by Bryan Adams.

Gosh, they're both really good. Classic Amy, and it's depressing. Ugh!!

"Our Day Will Come" isn't really a revelation. It's good, but Amy recorded and performed so many covers from that period in her career that it doesn't stick out a whole lot. "Like Smoke" is the interesting one for me. By 2008 I already thought she was well past recording anything else that good. It's definitely in the same vein as "You Know I'm No Good", but it's excellent and really feels like a glimpse into her third album. I'm still not keen on the idea of this project, but if we're going to get a couple of tracks this good out of it I'll be satisfied.

Amy only had two studio albums, so a GH really isn't that fitting. I know there have been acts with compilations from two or three records, but the label would not want to detract from sales of Back in Black, or even Frank.
Even if a track isn't out-of-this-world amazing, Amy still lifts it with her great delivery/vocal style.

Love "Halftime". My favorite of the 3 tracks that were released recently.

Halftime is great. It's clearly from the Frank era. I just hope they don't try to take old songs and try to pass them off as new recordings.

Apparently it's from August 2002, which was over a year before Frank was released. It's what I expected from this project - solid and nice enough, but she'd evolved so much from this sound that it's hardly a substitute for a third album.

Oh, 90 second clips from the album are on iTunes now. We've already heard most of the good stuff, but "Between The Cheats" and "A Song For You" sound amazing.

"Between The Cheats" makes me so upset about the album that never came to be.

Lioness is on course to be number one in the UK this week, having sold over 70,000 copies already.

I did not like what I heard of A Song For You. Sounded like a complete slurfest. Being the Amy stan that I am, I am definitely buying multiple copies (one for myself and then others as gifts) today.

I have to say.... this album sure was a great "post-death" offer to the public. The new material and the original recordings sure do breathe life to her music. Especially seeing what songs like Tears Dry on Their Own and Wake Up Alone eventually became.

@ the Mariah-shading quote that Mark Ronson drops in the liner notes for this album. Edit: OK, the best part of "Song For You" is the spoken part. The song itself is an embarrassment. I get why they included it but I feel like, to the person who just saw Amy as a junkie, this recording would confirm that and to the Amy fan, it just further depresses them. I don't think I can play that again, to be honest.
