She might die if she makes them. She needs to stay in rehab and get better. That is her number one priority, not an award show.

She won't.
Winehouse Won't Be At Grammy Awards Amy Winehouse February 07, 2008, 2:50 PM ET Jonathan Cohen, N.Y. Amy Winehouse will not be on hand for the Grammy Awards on Sunday (Feb. 10) in Los Angeles, after her visa application to enter the United States was rejected by the American Embassy in London. However, Winehouse may still appear on the CBS broadcast via satellite.
Winehouse, who is up for six awards, has been an undisclosed rehab clinic for the past two weeks to deal with drug problems. She had previously revealed plans to attend the Grammys despite her travails.
"Amy has been progressing well since entering a rehabilitation clinic two weeks ago and although disappointed with the decision has accepted the ruling and will be concentrating on her recovery," reads a statement from her U.K.-based publicist.
"There will of course be other opportunities and she very much looks forward to visiting America in the near future," the statement continues.
Although Winehouse won't be at the Grammys in person, any Grammy wins will surely boost sales for her breakthrough album "Back to Black," which has shifted 1.5 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

smh @ "fans" who care more about her attending an out-of-touch award show (I won't either bother listing some of the ridiculous nominees this year) than her own health and sobriety, which she clearly needs to attend to and stay focused on. As a big fan of this woman, I want her to get better and keep working than to risk her health and wind up dead, all so that she can attend the Grammys. I am honestly shocked at people's reactions to what should be good news in my opinion. She can still collect the awards.

She's still an artist, that's her job.... and as an employee, it's important to be at these public award shows.... yes, maybe here at the board we've lost respect for the grammies cause we know better, but the bigger music audience doesn't..... and well, the critics still rely on it.. .if she wants to continue to be a singer, and grow popular in the states.... then, these appearances are MANDATORY.... on top of continuing to make good music.......
You people act like she's the only artist in living history with a drug problem.....

If she is appearing via satellite, she'll likely be winning something.

As a big fan of this woman, I want her to get better and keep working than to risk her health and wind up dead, all so that she can attend the Grammys. I am honestly shocked at people's reactions to what should be good news in my opinion. She can still collect the awards. How is this good news? If she were granted her visa, it would obviously mean that people were evaluating her and deemed her to be in condition to travel. The fact that it's been rejected means she's not healthy enough yet. Yeah, wonderful news, woo-freakin'-hoo. Maybe the next report can even say she's relapsed and we can all have a party! That last comment was so juvenile and ridiculous...Obviously, it's good news that she is staying in rehab. No, she is not healthy enough after only a couple weeks in rehab. As someone who has dealt with addiction first hand, it takes more than that. She needs to be COMPLETELY and 100% healed and the desire to even want to do drugs needs to have dissipated enough before she flies off to a place where drugs are readily available. Plus, when you make an honest effort to get off drugs, there are always people willing to supply it, for many different reasons. Misery loves company but also, since she is famous, some scumbag dealer would love to get her high again, if nothing else but for the bragging rights. The people at the Visa office are not medical staff or addiction treatment specialists. They deal in bureaucracy and redtape, so she was most likely denied a visa because of her marijuana charges and concern revolving around legal issues, not because of her health. I don't know the policies of her particular rehab center but I'm pretty sure that all they can do is advise her to stay and get better, but they are not allowed to bar an adult from leaving, especially one who was admitted voluntarily.

It pretty much is guaranteed that she will win something considering how badly NARAS wants her to perform. 6-award-sweep?? If so, it'll be the most successful night at the Grammies for a female aritst ever!

Amy Winehouse to perform at Grammys via satellite
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Troubled British pop singer Amy Winehouse will perform at Sunday's Grammy Awards live via satellite from London, after the U.S. government rejected her visa application to attend the music industry's biggest night of the year in Los Angeles, organizers said on Friday. ADVERTISEMENT
Winehouse, who has six nominations, second only to rap star Kanye West, is currently in a rehab clinic after a well-publicized battle with drugs.
She had hoped to attend the ceremony, but the visa denial was not a huge surprise. The U.S. government has been making it harder for foreign artists with blemished records to perform in the United States.
Grammy officials said Winehouse will perform from a London studio. The song was not disclosed, but it will likely be her breakthrough hit "Rehab." The tune, which recounts her reluctance to seek help, is nominated for record of the year.
Winehouse's other nominations are for album of the year, song of the year, best new artist, female pop vocal performance and pop vocal album.
West, with eight nominations, will also perform, organizers confirmed. He has kept a relatively low profile since his mother, Donda West, died after plastic surgery almost three months ago.
Experts expect Winehouse and West will dominate the awards. "Artistically those would be the two artists that I think are most deserving of awards this year," said Spin magazine editor Doug Brod.
They are competing with each other in only one category -- album of the year. West's other nominations are in the rap field, where he is competing against himself in two categories.
Other nominated performers will include rock band the Foo Fighters, R&B singer Beyonce in a duet with Tina Turner, and rock veteran John Fogerty alongside legends Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis. The telecast begins at 5 p.m. PST.

That would make me very happy. Snatch that Best Album award from Kanye, Amy! I am having a Grammy Party like I do every year. Last year, I had champagne for Mariah and purple for Mariah. This year, strictly champagne.

Did y'all hear that Amy petitioned to have the Visa denial revoked...AND IT WAS!! But too little, too late...her publicist issued a statement saying that it wouldn't be feasible to change her plans and come to the US now and that she wants to stay in rehab (good!) but she still will perform via telecast.

Amy visa - but too late for Grammys
(Saturday February 09, 2008 07:52 PM) Amy Winehouse has been granted a US visa, but will not perform live at the Grammys, her representatives said.
The singer had previously been denied entry to the US and had made plans to perform at the awards ceremony via a satellite link from London.
Her spokesman said: "Following further discussions involving the US Embassy in London and officials in the United States, Amy Winehouse has been granted a visa to enter the United States of America.
"Unfortunately, due to the logistics involved and timing complications, Amy will not be travelling to the US to perform at the Grammys in person. However, she will be performing via satellite broadcast as previously announced."
He added: "Amy would like to thank all of those people, in particular the staff involved at the US Embassy in London, who have all worked so hard to expedite her application.
"She is very sad not to be attending the Grammys in person but wishes to express her heartfelt gratitude to all of those involved in the process.
"She is looking forward to being a part of the 50th Annual Grammy Awards with her Sunday night performance and to going back to the US soon."
On Friday, Winehouse checked out of the Capio Nightingale clinic in north London, where she had been since January 24, to rehearse for her performance.
A spokesman said: "She is feeling great, looking healthy and looking forward to doing what she does best. She will remain under full medical supervision and her treatment will continue as normal."
Winehouse, 24, was determined to perform at the Grammys, where she is nominated for six awards. Her nominations are Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Female Performance, Album of the Year, Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album.
