Over the years, I've read often and posted seldom, but somehow I missed this thread in my reading! Thank you to those who posted reviews of various concerts as I really enjoyed reading them.
Upcoming concerts for me this year (with more to be added)
September 3rd - Crossroads, Kansas City MO - Pat Green (Saw Pat at this venue in April 2008 and it was a great show)
September 18th - Pizza Hut Park, Frisco TX - KISS, Daughtry, Pat Green (I'm a little fascinated by this rather interesting combination)
September 24th - Tin Roof, Nashville TN - Pat Green (last saw Pat here in September 2005)
October 2nd - Cricket Wireless, Chula Vista CA - Rascal Flatts, Kellie Pickler, Chris Young (Although he's opening and has a limited amount of time, Chris is the reason I'm going)

Even though it isn't country, I would love to hear about it! (If that doesn't break any of the rules for the forum)

Well, since I started the thread and it doesnt's say Upcoming Country Concerts, I'll tell you. LOL
Well, for starters, at first I was upset because I thought she was the headliner and REO Speedwagon was opening, but I think we were all thrown a curve ball and Pat opened. Which was actually good, because she was the only reason I went....I don't care for REO that much, but when Pat got out, everyone was on their feet.
We had tickets that were on the ground (not grandstand), but when we got to them, they were WAY off to the right hand side and not as close as we would have thought...especially for being 10th row.
However, we had friends that were going that paid for front row tickets and just before Pat came on, they were over talking to us telling us there were about 10 seats next to them that were still open.
We all 4 went down to the front row (however we were still on the far right hand side) and it ended up being the best decision because no one claimed those seats so we were able to stand front row for the whole concert
She looked GORGEOUS (I didn't know she had long hair now) and the bangs looked really good as well.
She sang all of her classics along with some obscure ones and everyone was singing along.
My favorite of course was Hit Me With Your Best Shot and towards the end she had the audience sing instead of her and they were all about it.
Her singing was SPOT ON and her stage presence was great as well. Her husband also was quite the entertainer.
What I really liked was how they did the intro to We Belong. They were both sitting on stools so it was going to be a intimate performance. Neil was talking saying that he always likes doing the intro to this song and that we would have to participate as well. Pat then took the lead and said that we all needed to take out our cell phones and she would sway her arm from one direction to the next (swaying) and told us that we had to do that with our phones. (instead of using lighters and swaying back and forth). We, of course, didn't know what song it was until she started but I thought the intro to it was awesome.
On Hell is For Children she still sounded as great as ever in the part towards the end where she really yells.
Her voice sure hasn't lost anything and I was glad I FINALLY got the chance to see her.
I didn't really want to spend a total of $58 (30 for a shirt and 28 for her memoir), but being this is the first time I've seen her and being that she's 56 and I may not get to see her again, I had to buy something, so I splurged. After she was done....so were we.
I have to say she put on one of the best shows I've ever been to and that just like fine wine, she gets better with age. She's still a looker at close to 60. If you ever get the chance to see her live, don't pass it up.

I'm heading to one tonight and it's going to be Martina, Jack Ingram, and Lady A. I'm guessing Lady A was opening for Martina and Jack Ingram? What a difference a couple years can make... :)

Thank you, Steelo for the review! I enjoy hearing about today's concerts by the old schoolers (so to speak) whatever the genre of music.
Sounds like it was a memorable show and I'm glad you were able to upgrade your seats :)

I was lucky enough to attend the Dec 21st 9 p.m. Garth Brooks show in Nashville as a 40th Birthday present to my wife. I have been to well over 200 shows ranging from Bruce Hornsby to Aerosmith to Sevendust and many country shows. This was the best overall show I have ever seen.
I did see Garth back in his touring days in Birmingham and really enjoyed that show as well but this one was amazing. He opened with Rodeo then went right into Papa Loved Mama and never slowed down. Of course he did most of the hits with the biggest ommision being American Honkytonl Bar Association.
Steve Wariner came out and did Longneck Bottle and Trisha came out and did In Another's Eyes, She's In Love With The Boy and How Do I Live. She looked great and sounded awesome.
His voice was a little rough but this was the 7th show and he had just done a show before ours. He never shyed away from hitting any of the higer notes and sounded really good for the most part. During one of his three encores he did acoustic songs that people had written on signs in the audience. He did Burning Bridges, The Red Strokes, To Make You Feel My Love, It Was Your Song, That Girl Is A Cowboy, Learning To Live Again, Piano Man, American Pie and You Never Call Me By My Name. All of these were just the first verse and the chorus.
He hasn't slowed down much over the years and ran around the stage that was set up "in the round". Overall it was just an amazing show and I wish I could have went to two or three of them. I only paid 25.00 aftermarket for the tix and had excellent seats.
I can't wait for new music from Garth and hopefully another tour.

bamafan, thank you for the enjoyable review of the Garth show. I wouldn't mind seeing him sometime!
I'm not familar with Belleville Outfit, elcamino, but I love Gruene Hall! Texas has so many really cool old dancehalls and I've always enjoyed shows at them.
I'm going to a few concerts in the next couple of months in a variety of venues: 12/31 Cowboys - Arlington TX - Chris Young 01/15 Go Western Gala - San Antonio TX - Pat Green 01/28 Granada Theatre - Lawrence KS - Pat Green 01/29 Joe's Bar - Chicago IL - Pat Green 02/05 Coupland Dancehall - Coupland TX - Pat Green 02/11 Grizzly Rose - Denver CO - Pat Green 02/24 House of Blues - Boston MA - Pat Green 02/25 Terminal 5 - New York NY - Pat Green, Jack Ingram, Wade Bowen, Casey Donahew Band 02/26 Rams Head Inn - Baltimore MD - Pat Green
Haven't planned out any months further than February yet.

Belleville is a good little Austin band. Hopefully they will get a label next year. Marshall the guitarist is the nephew of the late Champ Hood of the Uncle Walt's Band. Most likely they will go to Sugar Hill. Phoebe got the Daniel Pearl award back in 06. www.yallwire.com/player/acl08thebellevilleoutfit.html?1=1&detect_bitrate=_2000

Delete this if it's not within the realm of the board, but I thought it's a decent idea to have a thread dedicated to concert dates, tour announcements and pairings, reviews, etc. I'll get it started with Luke Bryan announcing his Farm Tour dates for this year - 8 dates in 10 days around the Southeast. www.theboot.com/2012/08/17/luke-bryan-farm-tour-2012-dates/Also, mentioned it in another thread, but Jake Owen is headlining a Fall Tour this year with Florida Georgia Line and Love & Theft. Should be announced within the next week or two.

I just merged the new thread into this one. I'm not sure why that didn't bump the thread up onto the first page of the forum, but hopefully my posting here will do the trick.

Saw Sierra Hull tonight. It nearly rained on our heads (outdoor show), but the storm changed direction and blew by at the last minute, thank heaven! It was a really good show, and I got her autograph and a photo after. That girl can sing and play mandolin like nobody's business.

Been thinking about next summer's big headlining tours and some logical pairings.
Luke Bryan (headliner) and Jake Owen seems almost too easy to pick out. Jason Aldean and Eric Church in a big stadium tour perhaps?

Brad's concert was great last night. During his performance, he came down to the audience onto the small middle stage, which was right in front of where we were sitting at.
Before main concert, there was a smaller concert with Kristen Kelly, Jana Kramer, and Love and Theft, which all did great too.
Loved The Band Perry rendition on "Fat Bottom Girls". Nice too hear Neil singing lead.
