The station is becoming an oldies station with recurrents dominating its playlist. It refuses to let go of some of these songs. I mean Daniel Bedingfielf is almost 3 years old. And they continued their puzzling fascination with beyonce. Plus they are missing some of the top hits right now. They never played any of the singles so far from Gwen's album, which does not make sense when you look at the garbage they put in high rotation.

don't you think it leans a little more recurrent then most stations do? well yea thats y i dont listen to the radio as much because they always play old songs and alot of good new songs get lost in the shuffle. I'm very used to stations playing the hell out of recurrents so it juts looks normal to me.

I think it's not a fair time to judge whether a playlist is too recurrent-heavy, considering that the effects of year-end countdowns are still showing up on the charts.

That's not the worst playlist I've seen.
Back in Denver, before I moved to Portland in June, the Top 30 of their playlist was STILL punching multiple Simple Plan singles at once, Nelly's "Ride Wit You", Linkin Park's "In the End" and even Sugar Ray recurrents.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

WBLI must be one of the five or ten most recent stations on the panel to have been Number 1 in the ratings, along with WNCI Columbus, KHTS San Diego, KKMG Colorado Springs, WLAN Lancaster, and maybe KKDM Des Moines and WAEB Allentown-Bethlehem.
From yes.net, WBLI's ten most recent songs played are "Beautiful Soul," "Dip It Low," "Over And Over,' "Someday," "Get Right," "In Da Club," "Since U Been Gone," "Foolish" (yes.net says it's from the Bad Boy remix album so it could be "Unfoolish" featuring the Notorious B.I.G.), "I Don't Want To Be," and "My Boo." I admit that they shouldn't play two recurrent or gold songs by an artist less than an hour apart which they did with "How You Remind Me" and "Someday." "Say My Name" played at 1:04 P.M. is the most recent song I noticed them play from an album released in the 1900s.
I live in Nassau County.

lol i didnt say it was THE worst playlist I have ever seen, but it is ONE of the worst.
WBLI never use to be this bad I use to listen to it and it was actually pretty good but over the past few months in my opinion it took a turn for the worst.

Hold UP, let me say I personally agree with FOXXDEN, in fact I curse at the radio nearly everytime I turn on BLI. Its late and I can't give you any specific song names instances but I can tell you that I HATE this station's playlist. Maybe I'm just spoiled (I'm equidistant from the NYC, Hartford and LI markets) but I remember telling someone I was driving yesterday that I am seriously considering send BLI money to update their playlist, or calling my local state representative because it borders on criminal. >:(

Yeah, you'd think those pop stations would play songs by Interpol, Snow Patrol and Coheed and Cambria.

Alright, I had enough stomach for 4 songs on BLI on my way home from school, so consider this a random sample - "Pieces of Me", "If I Ain't Got You" (probably only because it was the horrible cut w/ Usher), "Beautiful Soul" (introduced as "new music"), and, drumroll please, "Sexual Healing".
BLI has garnered a reputation for playing the fluffiest stuff around, even more so then Z100 and my favorite KC101 (WKCI New Haven). I spefically remember when jlo's "I'm Real (Remix)" was big - they cut jarule's part -out entirely so that the back-and-forth chorus had gaping holes in it.

Eh, BLI is tight, and slow with new music, but they're still well-balanced, and they've got great on-air presentation. Obviously it works for them, since LI keeps putting them in the top 5. They are not at all one of the worst CHRs out there. All of the NYC area CHRs do a good job I think.
And what's wrong with "Sexual Healing"?

I kept on WBLI all day at work today just to comment. I like the fact that they play recurrents, but they play them too often. "Pieces of Me" once or twice a day is fine, but 3 times a day every day is too much. Same goes with many other songs from 2003 and 2004.
They are playing the new J-Lo like crazy. Certain songs they jump on before Z-100, others are put aside until they go Top 10.
As Slinky said, I do like their balance. Nice mix of pop, rhythmic and Hot AC tunes.
Overall, its a good station. Better than Z-100, but far from perfect. I still prefer WKCI or WSPK for a CHR station (although I can't pick either up at work).
