I have a feeling the race for #1 won't be as close this week ;)

Yeah, hopefully Mario can push his way into #1 by at least one more spin than Gavin.

woooooah nelson 7 songs with a 1000+ bullet, and a 991+ It will be that way all week, because the spins from New Year's weekend are in the last week column now. Bullets won't be back to normal until January 17. As I said in the other thread, a +1000 bullet now is about the same as a +500 bullet in a normal week.

I like the wacky bullets (even though I'll be glad for the normal bullets to return next week). They're a fun way to the start the new year off. Wacky bullets to match my wacky writing of checks with the year 2004 on them. :)

Right now "I Don't Want To Be" is #1, so let's all hope that changes by Sunday!
I hope "1,2 Step" becomes the next #1. I think it was on AT40 that it was sid that she would like to be around as long as Janet Jackson.

Everyone is saying how the bullets right now on Mediabase aren't the "true" representative of the numbers because of the yearend totals and all that stuff and they give other numbers with what the bullet would be if it were a "normal" week and I was just wondering if they were pulling those numbers out of their ass or if they were actually based on something?

I still can't wait until everything is back to normal. It'll be for example more easier to see if a song is making a strong comeback.

Do you suppose they are just adding in the spins they would have received from the countdown? That would be my guess.

Do you suppose they are just adding in the spins they would have received from the countdown? That would be my guess. Well, someone said a few days ago that a normal week would have only a couple songs with a 1000+ bullet while right now there are something like 10 so maybe they're using that as a basis. I don't think we can claim that the bullet numbers are double now what they usually are.

Jennifer is slowing down, she is at over +1400 today while she was at +1500 yesterday. Mario is almost once again the greatest gainer. Jesse Mccartney is top 5

She gained like 50-75 spins since yesterday. Her net gain is down because she had non-zero spins last week at this time. There's more to movement then just the + or -. And I would not expect her to INCREASE her bullet anyways, especially with the way the current chart is looking. All of the mega bullets may just make it look like hers is small, but in a week, we will see who still has the large bullet. Mario is a lock for #1 this week and Gavin looks to be #2 but with a bullet. Then, Ciara and Mario will battle out #1 next week. And hurray for Jesse McCartney! I am so happy pop radio has embraced this song. One last note - Green Day is almost ready to pass Lil' Jon & The Gang!

A good way to figure how much songs are really gaining would be to compare their current spins to their previous spin peaks. Or at least compare them to the unpublished 12/24 chart, which is the last chart week where Christmas music and year-end countdowns didn't have a major effect. Cerebro posted this chart at pulsemusic.proboards12.com/index.cgi?board=pop&action=display&thread=1104971399For example, Gavin has 8042 spins now, compared to 7662 on 12/24 so he's still gaining, while Snoop is down from 5815 to 5611, even though he has a +266 bullet on today's chart.

The Max, I wouldn't go so far as to say I "pulled that number out of my ass," I was just comparing the bullets to where they normally are and making an educated guess. ;) I'm obviously not completely correct.

Took a peak at the building chart... Mario's #1 and Green Day's up to #13!!!... I'm glad pop is grabbing this song. It's incredible.
BTW, J-Lo isn't in the top 30 building yet, so, though she'll probably get there, I won't be surpised if her bullet goes down by about 5-600 (seriously)

The building charts on HDD's site only show the top 10 for each format, so clearly they can't be the same charts that agon666 is referring to.

Looks like Maroon 5 will make the Top 30 after all with "Sunday Morning" with a bullet near +500, also benefitting from the older, staler singles drops.
U2, on the other hand, are less fortunate in making another Top 30 appearance with "Vertigo".
Gavin DeGraw will earn the first fresh #1 of 2005.
And look at Green Day go! This looks destined to go #1 to me, especially after peaking #1 at ACTIVE ROCK!!!
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

So Mario is no1 now.
I can see Jennifer being top30 very soon.
Maybe it is still a bit early to say something about some other songs. We'll see on Monday.

Green Day have passed "Lovers and Friends" It would be great to see them go Top 10 this week, but it wouldn't happen this week - they're about 1000 behind #10 of a 9-bulleted-songs-out-of-10 Top 10.

Someone tell me why Snoop's bullet is back!!! I know it's just +200... but it's still terrible.
And go Green Day!
