Scott Shannon's Hot AC station seems to be poised for a big change in format - not surprising when you consider it's been stuck in the high 1's and low 2's in the ratings seemingly forever...
There's some speculation that the station may go Country, still others are thinking it will go to a "true oldies" format... It's the main topic of discussion on the radio-info.com board at the moment.

Country doesn't work here...they've tried it over and over again and it doesn't work. If they do, it'll fail miserably again.
Even though I know that there are a lot of country lovin' people in this area...it just never seems to catch on.
I think they'd be better off staying as they are.
Personally, I would want an Active Rock station, but that's not gonna happen either.

If WPLJ NYC goes from Hot AC to True Oldies, it will be the second Citatel owned station to be in the format along with Chicago's 94.7
Ah, the glory 1992-1994 years when Hot AC WPLJ aired Sunday mornings Shadoe Stevens' AT40 with the rap/dance/R&B/heavy metal songs mentioned but not played.

If PLJ goes under, IMO either Z100's gonna move way to the center (to pick up Lifehouse, Matchbox 20, John Mayer, Santana feat Chad Kroeger, etc.), or that "Fresh AC" station is gonna pick up more currents to cover those songs...can't see acts like John Mayer and Rob Thomas bein left off NYC radio (specifically the Northern Jersey surburbs)
If this doesn't happen, IMO, someone'll create a Hot AC based outta Northern Jersey to service the suburbs

John Mayer and Rob Thomas get AC airplay nationwide. They wouldn't totally disappear if WPLJ changed formats. There aren't too many FMs from northeast New Jersey because of the frequencies used by stations from New York City and other areas. Christian AC WAWZ 99.1 won't change formats, and AC WMGQ 98.3 is currently fifth in Middlesex-Somerset-Union. Rock WDHA 105.5 Dover, NJ is Top 10 in the Morristown market. Morristown is a strong area for WPLJ, where it's currently second and a little behind first place WLTW.

Morristown is a strong area for WPLJ, where it's currently second and a little behind first place WLTW. Yeah that's why I was thinkin that if PLJ went under someone would prob. come in to service Northern Jersey (from Morristown) with their own Hot AC Still think someone's gotta play NEW songs from John Mayer, M20, etc. in that area, but that "Fresh AC" NYC station (not sure of call letters) might become a little more current if HAC disappears from the NYC market and Z100 doesn't "move over" to cover those songs

Fresh is WWFS. I can get WPLJ but I don't listen to it much.

Rocky Allen was fired. His afternoon sidekick was so annoying.
I remember Rocky when he was on Rock 102 in Buffalo, NY.
