The video for this song goes up on the 25th, probably the single will get added on that day too, and hey, guess what? The album drops that day too. Consolers Of The Lonely. It comes out next week, and the band just announced it today. What. The. Fuck. www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=304992

Salute Your Solution?
Salute Your Shorts.
I don't even own (want?) the first Raconteurs album, but that's pretty badass that everything will be ready to go at once (and all of a sudden), if that is indeed the case.

This is a great idea.
I wish record labels would actually do something like that more often so that they don't focus so much on first week sales. Because it seems like as good a reason as any to cut a band off of a roster.
I think that doing something as shocking as that if it were a bigger artist, would be all the more beneficial.

I didn't even read their letter about it until tonight (an abbreviated form, as it turns out; I read penance's link just now), but I think that is an incredible angle for a musical act of stature to approach releasing a new album.
I'm actually more interested in hearing this record now than I otherwise would have been had they taken the traditional approach to release.

This song (and album) leaked yesterday. This sounds like a White Stripes b-side, but it's still pretty good.

I love the song and album! it feels like classic white stripes, before Get Behind Me Satan. I think Jack is at his best when he's playing good rock music instead of throwing in pianos and other instruments.

Did you know they're know as The Saboteurs in Australia. Yes. Another band has claim to their name down under, apparently.

Can one of you boys - Adam, TGAC, picpak, etc, alert me when you find this in mp3 form online?
I really can't use torrents or soulseek right now...:( It's back to the blogs for me, and WEB SHERIFF is being a total cow.

Can one of you boys - Adam, TGAC, picpak, etc, alert me when you find this in mp3 form online? I have it on my wishlist on Soulseek. I haven't had anything relating to it "ding" at me yet, but I'll let you know when I do ;)

Wow I think that's the first time anyone's ever said that to me. So, um thanks! Just by running a search now of typing in "raconteurs salute" gave me an episode of the old school Nickeloldeon show "Salute Your Shorts" which totally brought back old memories and I actually am in queue for it now. But, yeah nothing came up as far as this song goes. EDIT: Ok, it took like two minutes, but I found about twenty people that have it ranging in quality from bitrates of 384 to 128. Second EDIT: Now I have it. Damn, this song is freaking sweet!

How's the album? The single gives me a bit of a White Stripes feel too.

It's getting really good reviews but I have not heard it yet.
btw this song kicks ass! I think it's a definite hit. Badly needed on the chart, too. Just noticed that 1300 plays gets top 5 now. :/

I can't believe this only got played once last week -- right when the song and album leaked. Radio stations should hire someone to scour the file sharing networks to find songs to jump on instantly.

They should hire members of this forum Oh wait, the concept of "forums" is relatively new & scary to terrestrial radio programmers. We are The Other, and the Enemy.

That's something Crazy Cabbie (from KROCK in NYC) would do!
I wonder whatever happened to him. He was in jail for tax evasion, but I think he's part of Howard Stern's team now.

Every time, I have to hear about Jack White and the White Stripes. Well guess what? The majority of the band was in the Greenhornes which in my opinion is a heck of a lot better than the White Stripes. AND, I think this material sounds a lot more like the Greenhornes too. So this "B-side" garbage doesn't cut it with me.
Long live the Raconteurs!
Having said all of that, I haven't even heard this one yet.

I guess I'd hate to be a bigger Greenhornes fan, but the main reason why Jack White gets mentioned is he's pretty much the star of the group. I don't think I heard of the Greenhornes or any first-hand Brendan Benson songs before the Raconteurs, actually.
But when I first heard this I thought what are they doing with this. I was offline and didn't even know they were releasing the album, and so quick at that. I kind of feel ashamed that I never even got around to Broken Boy Soldiers but I'll try and get around to this. But possibly Jack's too prolific for me to follow EVERY project he does.

Oh, to me, the Greenhornes bring more of a "dirty blues" feel to their rock music, an edge that I prefer and am glad to see comes out at least some in the Raconteurs. I don't deny that Jack White is far more prolific and well-known, but there's a reason he's doing the work with them.
