Part of the reason I've always loved journey is because of their guitar solos. Neil sounds as good as ever. Alot of people don't seem to realize just how good of a guitarist he is.

Did they get a new guy all of a sudden? Because they've had a Perry ringer since the late '90's...

Arnel Pineda is the lead singer now (not a clue who he is, or if that's even important) , apparently he's from the Phillipines.
Steve Augeri - lead vocals(1998-2006) Jeff Scott Soto - lead vocals (2006-2007)
These were the singers after Steve Perry.

My Journey interest is limited enough that I can be forgiven for not realizing "Steve Augeri" was gone 2 years ago. And now this is already the second guy after him. Wow!

i was just giving the info, and I had to look it up, I didnt know either. Journey, to me, hasnt done anything great since the 80's. I've barely heard anything from them besides the song that escapes my memory from 1995. Sadly, I was actually more excited to hear new Toto a couple years ago, lol. I'm sooooo a child of the 80's.

If this is a new rock-edged single from Journey, kinda worried that it won't really have a format to play it, except for more rural hybrid rock/classic rock stations

Honestly it creeps me out when bands get soundalike singers to replace their old ones, at least ones that have an instantly recognizable sound like Steve Perry does. Journey's singer doesn't creep me out as much as INXS's Hutchinson wannabe, probably because Steve Perry's still alive, but it's still weird to me.

that would be one or two more times than me on the follow-up. I didnt mind the "snoozer", not that I went out of my way to buy it or anything but i didnt jump to switch stations when it came on. It just wasnt anything I was really into at that time. Journey will forever stay a staple of the 80's for me, which will make it very difficult for them to release anything i find relevant today.

Journey know too damn well that the chance of them having some sort of hit (even a big ballad at AC) is as likely as chocolate mousse becoming diet food. Their real bet is on the Wal-Mart deal they struck to sell Revelation in the US. It's them and Bryan Adams too. Looks like The Eagles have created a template for veteran artists past their peak to sell their music in the American market.

At least the Eagles had Triple A though...AC still picks up ballads by Bryan Adams and even REO Speedwagon (although their play numbers are pretty low) - I just have no clue who's gonna play a harder-edged new song by Journey, except heritage Rock stations in smaller markets - Hot AC did cover Springsteen when "The Rising" came out, but most HACs now are either basically CHRs (without rap) or light Alternative stations
