^ ooh that is a new guitar! Very cool! Thanx vinman! Love that she made the top 20 tours too!
The cover of Allure magazine is a big deal too- that makes 3 major magazine covers this year, 4 if you count the People mag country issue.

JAD review All Access:
Carrie Underwood Just a Dream Arista
"Just a Dream" will make your listeners cry- it may make you cry. It's the story of pain and tragedy- a young bride to be that loses the love of her life- another soldier that didn't make it home until his funeral. The big, bold and dramatic production is the backdrop for Carrie's strongest vocal performance yet, and that's saying something. Impacting now.
Strongest vocal performance yet? Uh yea.

I believe So Small or Jesus Take the Wheel may be her strongest vocal performances.

I would give it to Just a Dream just by inches.

I think JAD is the strongest vocal in my opinion, of recorded songs- but JTTW is right behind. IKYW is up there too.
But I feel that the live IKYW and HGTA Opry performances rank at the top of her live vocal performances. We have yet to see her do JAD live on a televised setting, etc- so it is too soon to judge how she will do it live. I have seen her do it live in concerts- and it was amazing.....but I think the impact of her wearing a pretty gown and doing it on tv, etc- will make an impact on people even more.

T, ive already mentioned a few times, i saw carrie at the opry on the same night she did both IKYW and JAD in the same outfit. if you want my honest opinion, theres no comparison in the vocals. JAD is great, IKYW is just phenomenal. its like comparing an all-star to a hall of famer. so, since i have since her perform on the same night in the same outfit, the outfit argument (which i believed for a while) goes out the window for me.

I never put much faith in the outfit argument.
Out of JAD and IKYW, I think that yes, IKYW is the strongest vocal.
However, I think the article mentioned above meant that "strongest performance yet" = single.... at least thats how i interpreted it

yeah and other than that first inflamatory statement, she really didn't seem to say anything bad....also didn't go into alot of detail on carries show....either didn't care to watch it or had to come up with a fun headline to draw in the crazy commenters :) (that was a joke people)

Yeah she didn't say anything bad which is why it didn't bother me. Of course, I stopped caring about reviews a long time ago. The only thing that matters to me is if I like it. But others will overreact based solely on the first paragraph.

I'm fine with the CMT review. I'm a big Carrie fan but I like Taylor too. To see them both succeeding is very nice. I've had the feeling that Taylor would mature into a real show person, she is so outgoing, excitable, spontaneous, and energetic that performing is natural to her. Carrie, on the other hand, is a much more reserved person, so her performances are more studied. I expect both of them to have very successful long-term careers in country music.

I am suffering more and more each day; I am on vacation and yet I sign on all major music boards to see if Carrie's JAD video has come out yet. It kills me.

Your fine with the reviewer saying that Taylor should have been the opening act and that she might be the next Emmy Lou Harris? Really? I would agree with your post if your second line would read "I'm a big Taylor fan but I like Carrie too". That would make sense to me. But, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I have to respect that.

lol good one. Yeah- just got home after a along day at work, and that crummy article was the first thing I saw. awful. All I will say-- is that I am mad at CMT for allowing that trash to be posted on their site. I thought CMT liked Carrie?? Just seems that they have pushed her aside lately-- and this article was just so off the wall, biased and false in every way- that I really can't articulate how it made me feel. Dissapointed in CMT- for sure.

*Bites tongue*
....Some people like the performance. Some people like the vocals. Clearly this reviewer was a fan of the performance

^ thanx vinman. Does the headliner usually play longer than an hour and ten minutes? I have no idea. But that blog made it sound like Carrie played a much shorter set then normal.

I would agree with your post if your second line would read "I'm a big Taylor fan but I like Carrie too". That would make sense to me. But, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I have to respect that. Look, I'm pretty upset that this reviewer seemed to enjoy Taylor's set more than Carrie's and it is unfortunate that this review is pretty high profile on the CMT site. However, we can't expect everyone to always think Carrie is the best performer around. At least this reviewer said good things about Carrie's actual performance. What makes this review so maddening to people here is that Taylor is the benefactor of this reviewer's love. All I can say is that Carrie cannot always be the top of the heap, sooner or later she will have to yield the spotlight to someone else - this is the "way of the world". We, as Carrie fans, will continue to support her, but we had better get used to the "heat in the kitchen" because it is not going away. I'm reminded of all the Martina, Faith, and LeAnn fans who have had to swallow Carrie's ascension these past few years. I'm sure there was no end of the agony about it all on their fan boards.

My problem with the article is not the fact that someone likes Taylor's performance more, that fine with me. It's the fact that the article was on CMT. If this was in a blog, other fan site, or a tabloid, I could care less. But, to have this on a reputable site, is over the top.
I've been around the music business for many years, and I know about the changing of the guard when the time comes. That time hasn't arrived yet for Carrie. For CMT to have obviously seen and approved of this person's opinion, and then having it on their "news" section was an oversight on their part. I guess, with this kind of review policy, get ready to read that Bucky Covingtion should have been the headliner for Keith Urban. Nothing wrong with Bucky, I kind of like him. But, his fans shouldn't be writing reviews on CMT. jmo

US99 did an interview with Carrie backstage prior to the show. There's also a blog about the show and some pics. Thanks, vinman! I was definitely surprised that Carrie performed a 70-minute set at Country Thunder instead of her 90-minute set. As the headliner, I would have expected her to play her 90-minute set. I wonder if it's because she is saving her longer set for the CR tour, since it will be playing in nearby areas later this year? In any case, I thought the US99 blog summed up the appeal of various artists nicely. And I loved that interview! It was cute hearing Carrie talk about being nervous about getting back into the groove of touring. And she remains so humble. Her "pumpkin" comment is pretty funny. Love her comments about Little Big Town, and I'm going to have to check out Safety Suit now. For anyone else who is curious, here is Safety Suit's MySpace page. Fellow Oklahomans, it seems. matt = carriefan0209, thanks for the YouTube links to some of Carrie's Country Thunder performances! It sounds like she was in fantastic voice, and I enjoyed the crowd singalongs, too.

It sounds like she was in fantastic voice, and I enjoyed the crowd singalongs, too. well, in the interview, she said she doesnt consider herself the headliner for the first day of country thunder, that she's just the last performer. but the last act usually gets to perform a full set, if they so choose. i've been to country thunder before, and the last act definitely performed longer than 70 minutes. so i guess thats the reason for that comment shes just too maddeningly humble! shes used that pumpkin analogy before, and shes afraid LBT will make her look bad? lmao. there does seem to be a 'fraternity' among oklahoma artists (not that its too surprising), i've noticed that a few of the other bands she's said she likes have ties to oklahoma in one form or another...
