fun little side note...they thought it was funny that so many guys were totally into to all the carrie songs...they said they had never seen so many men sing carrie underwood at the top of their lungs Hee! Did you see the youtube videos taken by a guy? He's singing along to all the songs. It's funny and cute Well, it's irritating if you want to hear Carrie, but the thought and the guy's enthusiasm are funny and cute!

Dudley-- is there some sort of rule that you can't perform longer than an hour if you are booked in the same city later in the year? I know Kenny chesney uses that as an excuse for why he can't be a named performer for the CMA Fan Fest-- due to later obligations in the Nashville area.
Otherwise- I hope people weren't upset that her set was so short when they waited around all day in the 90 degree plus heat....It may have been dissapointing for some since she was the closer, and therefore, was supposed to have the longest set.

I agree, nice (but lightweight) review. I'm really looking forward to seeing Carrie in concert during her Fall/Winter tour. I wonder what song she is going to sing at the CMA awards show this year? I'm hoping for JAD or IKYW, but any song she chooses will be fine with me. I hope that country music continues to reward and appreciate the incredible artist/vocalist they have in Carrie Underwood for many years to come!

I know Kenny chesney uses that as an excuse for why he can't be a named performer for the CMA Fan Fest-- due to later obligations in the Nashville area. It was Keith, not Kenny, who couldn't be announced ahead of time as a CMA Music Fest performer because he would be performing in Kenny's LP Field show a few weeks later (Kenny didn't play CMA Fest this year). It was the same venue, and also, we're talking about a promoter for a huge stadium show. But as far as Carrie goes, no, I don't think there is a rule that prevented her from performing more than 70 minutes at Contry Thunder. In any case, Carrie isn't booked in the same city later this year, though I guess the Hoffman Estates show is in the same market, since US99 mentioned it in the interview. I think it was her choice to do the 70-minute set instead of the 90-minute set. Maybe (I'm really just speculating) because she wanted to save her full set for her own show. I really don't know what the reasoning might have been (it could also have been the fact that she got a 10pm start), but I'm fairly sure it was her choice/the choice of her team. Regardless, all credible reports point to the response to Carrie's set having been fantastic. leilamaurizia, I'll confess to actually having found that guy singing along to "So Small" rather irritating, because I wanted to hear how Carrie sounded in that YouTube clip! But yes, it's pretty funny and cute hearing all the singalongs. Carrie must have enjoyed all the love. I know vinman posted a picture from the ASCAP/BMI #1 luncheon for "Last Name," already but the Steph in the City blog also covered the event. As an added bonus, the luncheon picture on her blog is quite a bit bigger! Carrie looks great. And Mark Bright seems to have a lost a lot of weight!

I guess maybe they thought the show should end by 11:15....Perhaps that is just the way it worked out- it is just odd that a newbie would get more time then Carrie...but whatever. (I would feel this way no matter who got the extra time though- lol). I really enjoyed the youtube videos from the Country Thunder Festival because you can REALLY hear the crowd response and singing along SO much more then usual. My opinion-- is that the crowd was rowdy and really into Carrie-- they sang along to AAG so loud you could barely hear carrie! :) It was very cute...especially all the young voices in the crowd. She seemed very well suited to being the closer- and I am glad she was. Seems that all the reviews were positive except CMT- so there you have it. Jeff-- you are likely right about IKYW just being better live than JAD regardless of the outfit choice -despite how great JAD is live too. I can't explain it-- because I love JAD and I do love it live. I like JAD much more then IKYW--- yet-- live, IKYW sort of mesmerizes you. It stops you and makes you listen real closely to the words- and you really feel the emotion when Carrie sings it. I feel the same way about JAD live- but I guess IKYW just has a certain spell when it is live that I can't explain... So I guess in retrospect--- I will be very happy for all of you who love IKYW if it becomes the 6th single (if there is one)-- because it is a nice song to close the album out with...and it does seem to be a crowd favorite. I just think GOOTT will be perfect for single number 5. If I get my wish on that-- I am good. :) I will be rooting for you guys to get IKYW last...it may surprise me and do much better as a single then I thought it would.

Billboard reviews are almost never bad, but they can exhibit different shades of positive, depending on how much the reviewer likes the song and performance. Judging from his review of "Just a Dream", Chris Williams likes the song and performance quite a bit. So I'll give him a pass for having gotten the name of Carrie's prior single wrong. ;)What I really like about this review is that he gets what Carrie is doing with her vocal, and how she uses it to convey various stages of grief, ending in a wistful wish that what happened were "just a dream." ETA: As far as the 5th single goes, I'd prefer to see GOoTT released, but would be OK with FotF being released. And with each passing IKYW performance, I get more and more curious to see whether it would make an impact on radio listeners. I think it might be interesting if the label stopped worrying about #1 streaks and all that and got IKYW out there as a 6th single, assuming there is one from the album. I feel like the live version of IKYW is better than the studio version, though. I almost wish Carrie would re-record it that way, or maybe just release a live version of the song.

I heard it finally on my radio today for the first time- and the dj's said they loved it, that it was a beautiful song. I am getting so excited for the video! I agree that the live version of IKYW is better then the cd version- so it would be incredible if they released that version. I think a video for both GOOTT and IKYW would be killer. I also am fine with FOTF as a 6th single as it is very catchy and they could have fun with the video.

Thanks Dudley for the Billboard article. Country Thunder site has pics up of Carrie's performance. Gotta love the radio pack placement! I guess there was no where else on that outfit.

I saw an ad for JAD on allaccess, hahaha. It was nice.
On a side note: Are there any future appearances for Carrie on talk shows? Hopefully she performs LN and JAD because LN needs more publicity to make it on mainstream.

^ agree. It has been way too quiet and she needs to promote both JAD and LN to get things moving along.... A few tv appearances is all she needs for JAD-- and maybe some radio interviews at minimum for LN- especially on Sirius and XM. It would be great if she did TRL though to promote LN on MTV since it is getting airplay now.

^ see i don't know how much promo carrie would be willing to do to make LN a pop hit...her attitude seems to be if it plays on pop then thats awesome, but if not oh well..
i think her focus will be on JAD for country, because this is most certainly a sure fire hit..it also has the potential to be the huge CMA and GRAMMY song for her so, I think if there is any song she will get behind for promo it will be this one

IM SEEING CARRIE MONDAY AT DELAWARE! I voted about 5000 times for the MTV music awards. Carrie really deserves to get that nomination...everyone else should vote! If I had my choice as singles, I would DEFINITELY include flat on the floor, get out of this town, and i know you wont. I agree with DUDLEY that the label should release IKYW even though it might not be a #1 hit just because it is so freakin good...and I am sure that it will get amazing callout. If anything it would be the radio's fault it doesnt hit #1. I can see FotF being released and then IKYW...i am worried GOOTT might be looked over actually :( and to top this still hungover/drunk post off I have to say that last night at my friends house BHC came on a mixed CD and when it came on I kareoked it TWICE...my friends thought it was hysterical cuz a drunk man singing BHC always sounds funny

It was interesting that Carrie thought it would be the first single off the album, but obviously it wasn't. It would have had to go up against BHC for her Grammy nomination so that wouldn't have been good, so I'm sure they've deliberately held JAD back for the awards circuit this year and to maximally impact holiday sales as well. Carrie can approach pop like Alicia Keys, her main format is Urban but she releases her songs to pop, a lot of them haven't done that great at pop but sometimes she has huge crossformat hits. Carrie should really release more of her songs *cough AAG cough* to pop whether they get massive airplay or not. Even played on three stations is something, you know? As for singles, if I had my druthers, "Twisted" for #5 and YWFT for #6. I could live with GOOTT for #5 and IKYW for #6 as well. I had a dream it was going to be TMBIM for #5 last night though. I guess I shouldn't complain, AAG, LN, and JAD were all my choices for single at the time of release and the label agreed.

Still no vid I see.. Well maybe they'll release it on the adds date for the song...or maybe on the CMT top 20 countdown thing. I vote for IKYW being the next single. I know it's two ballads in a row but a great song is a great song. I agree with everyone that wants a live version of the song released, preferably the Opry version as that just blows the album version away. I could even deal with just Carrie and the piano...ahh that would be heavenly. :)
