Dear Casey,
My mother had the best smile in the world. She was the picture-perfect mom. She was there for every school function, field trip, and party. Unlike moms that annoy you, she was never like that. Mom raised my sister and me to be strong women. She taught us to "reach for the stars and never give up", say "I Love You" when you mean it, and "take chances when you get them & don't look back." She also let me express my individuality. When I wanted to dye my hair, she helped me pick out the dye. Casey, growing up Mom and I listened to your show together. We would talk and cry about the dedications & sing along with the songs. In 2006 the day after Thanksgiving, my mother was diagnosed with Late Stage Cancer of the Liver. They gave her 6 months to live. She died weeks later at the age of 56. Now, I expecting my first child and though I have a terrific family, I'm missing my mother greatly. Mom loved Rod Stewart songs, especially "Forever Young". Could you please play it for my mother Elizabeth Atkins? Even at her sickest, she encouraged me to stay young on the inside and keep that spark alive. Thanks Casey.
