Perfectbeat Review Controversy

Independent dance artists and labels are already not making much off of the sales of their music (if they are making anything at all). And they may sell even less when a potential customer goes to Perfect Beat and sees a one star rating and a scathing "review". Personally, I don't see the need to say anything negative about anyone's music in a public forum but I know that not everyone feels that way. I just try to be respectful of the people who create dance music and if there's a song or remix that I don't like I would think to myself "what is the point in leaving a negative one star review?". Am I really doing a great service to Perfect Beat's customers if I say a song is a piece of trash? I'd rather point out something positive about it and not try to stop the buyer from purchasing the music and at least not prevent them from listening to the sound clips on their own. I also think that everyone should try not to pay too much attention to the "reviews" on Perfect Beat, iTunes etc. Like Disco Cowboy stated, many are "just some personal vendettas against a remixer or a certain artist" and others may be fans who are obsessive about a particular artist or remixer or record label and rarely are able to give an unbiased opinion. Then there are others who may be close minded dance music fans and hate anything "circuit" or "electro". (If you don't like a type of music, don't review it. Or at least preface the comment with an explanation perhaps saying that you have a limited taste in dance music and you're not a fan of electro.) I always try to keep in mind when posting on a public forum that the person I'm posting about is probably going to read what I'm saying about them and do I really want to ruin their day with a mean comment? Not at all! Doing this can also potentially harm any sales and/or possibly influence someone to not hire them for a gig or remix work. And as for Perfect Beat, I think it's a great website that exposes us to a lot of excellent dance music and I hope that they don't go out of business. I'm going to continue supporting them and Masterbeat as much as I possibly can.
