David Lachapelle did Breakaway..did he not? No, but he shot Kelly's recent Got Milk ad and I think he may have been the photographer for the Candie's ads she was in a couple of years ago. |

Loved it on first listen, she's done so much better with her singles on this album. I think this was the perfect release (even though I havn't heard anything other than her singles).
This will definately have the success of the past 3..

I heard this on Z100 last night. I like the sound of it and the verses but the chorus is pretty bad. "Because of you I never strayed to far from the sidewalk
Because of you I learned to play on the safe side so I don’t get hurt" there are way too many syllables in that second line, as well as it sounding a bit stupid.

Is it just me, or was a music video (pre-release?) of "Because of You" played on the big screen behind Kelly in the live performance of the song seen on AOL? If so, it seems like part/all of the video is in black and white, and there are clips of depressed children. I guess it's not a bad concept. AOL Stream. |

Clem, im not sure if that was the actual video, or if was just something put together for the Tour. I do know however, that almost imediatly before, or right at the beggining of the Hazel Eyes Tour, Kelly said in a radio interview that she was givin permission to write the treatment of the video for BOY..so assuming they didnt film that in like an hour...I dont think its the video...but who knows?

Supposedly, the music video will be shot this week - if we haven't heard anything new by Friday, I'll definitely ask Kelly about it at the meet & greet I won a pass to. Because Of You is already a top 65 smash 2 weeks before its add date!  |

LOL! I thought I was the only one that thought the chorus for "Because Of You" was a bit off. That second line is a mouthful, I laugh everytime I hear it. It still annoys me to see people critize the lyrics of this song...it really does. Maybe im just being to touchy? But I mean, she wrote it (the whole song, for your info.) about her parents devorcing. Her strongest memory of her father for the past 15 some years of her life, was his back as he walked away from her...so it just rubs me the wrong way to see people calling it immature. Shes not going to change the whole effing song when it means that much to her.. |

I'm pretty sure she wrote all of the lyrics when she was 16, and co-wrote the music with Ben Moody and David Hodges. I'll admit that the lyrics to the chorus seem a bit clunky when put on paper, but in the context of the song and what it's about they make sense - as though even now, the pain of thinking about her parents' divorce takes her back to the mindset of the young child she was when it happened. |

I love when someone with the screen name slve4britney says a song is immature. You must not have heard 1/2 of Britney's catalog. I'm a Britney fan but honestly, that's really contradicting yourself.

I'll be the first to admit some of Britney songs are immature. But we are talking about KC right now. I didn't know the song was about her parents divorce, so I'll cut her some slack, because it shows some character and creativity, than from her other countless love songs. I love the song, I sing along to "Because of You" all the time. It's just she puts too many words in the chorus, which makes the song "immature" because it sounds like she couldn't think of a way to shorten her thoughts to keep in sync with the rhyme and melody of the song. That's all!

I think if she had done that it would have blended in with every other song simliar to this that's been made.
The fact that she sounds like she's talking from her heart and the words just come out, even if they don't flow perfectly with the rhythm and melody (which I actually think they do, but if that's what you observed, that's cool I guess) makes me love this song.
It's really honest and open and stream of consciousness.

She's still in rhythm. It's just she's adding many syllables in one sentence, which is no sin. I actually like it better than if it was traditional.
