Dear Casey,
I've always heard that time will heal all wounds. I hope and pray that it's true. Doing time in this institution is one thing, but not being with my family makes my time the hardest. I have not seen my children or their mother for almost a decade now, and I don't blame them for not wanting to have anything to do with me. I lived a very destructive life centering around drugs and alcohol which resulted in hurting them as well as me. I will regret all I've put them through for the rest of my life. Casey, a thousand "I'm sorry's" is not enough. During my incarceration, I've made some major improvements in mind, in body, and spirit. I'm not the same man I used to be, but to them, these are just mere words. I'm sure. If I do see them when I leave this place, I will let my actions speak much louder. I'm hoping that in the near future, they'll allow me to have some relationship with them. Even if it's just as a friend, maybe (just maybe) I'll be with them someday. So could you please play "So Far Away"? Even with all the time and distance between us, they will never be away from my heart.
Sincerely,
Fred
