Well, seeing as how it looks like "Breaking" never happened, I think "The Resistance" would be an awesome followup single. I have a feeling it's still going to "happen." It's probably their best shot for a good followup.

well i talked to reid who is in charge of the bands myspace and official website and he told me he will make an announcement when the time is right when the push for "Breaking" begins..so it is still expected to be the next single.

Yep, pretty sure it's just on hold. "The Resistance" would be a good third single while "Breaking" storms up the pop charts. :) (But actually, I'm starting to be convinced "FGD" might be worth a shot there as well.)
And since we're on a new page....
Sunday: 1 1 KINGS OF LEON Use Somebody 2084 2080 4 (Daily trend: -12) 2 2 ANBERLIN Feel Good Drag 1996 1917 79 (Daily trend: +7)

Net trend: Anberlin +19 KOL's lead at #1: 69 spins

Net trend: Anberlin +32 Anberlin's lead at #1: 14 spins
It has to be said that "Feel Good Drag" hitting #1 would be my favorite chart-related feat in the almost 9 years I've been a member of R&R/Pulse. Even objectively, it's one of the best chart stories since "The Kill".
Top 15 personal-chart hits for Anberlin:
#1 Godspeed #1 Dismantle.Repair. #1 Feel Good Drag #1 Breaking #1 The Resistance #1 Haight Street #2 Paperthin Hymn #2 A Day Late #3 Alexythmia #3 Blame Me! Blame Me! #4 A Whisper & a Clamor #5 Disappear #6 Reclusion #6 Retrace #9 Burn Out Brighter (Northern Lights) #10 Misearbile Visu (Ex Malo Bonum) #11 Adelaide #12 Time & Confusion #13 There Is No Mathematics to Love and Loss #14 Readyfuels #15 Dance, Dance Christa Päffgen** #15 (*Fin)
**"DDCP" would have hit #1 on my chart had I allowed album tracks to chart in 2005. It's my favorite Anberlin song. "The Runaways" would probably have hit #1 or #2 as well, along with "The Feel Good Drag" (NTFP version).
(Haha, Anberlin tracks have hit every peak from 1 through 15 except #7 and #8.)

Are you "B.G." over on the Anberlin boards? yes i am, how'd you figure that out??? I just figured based on the info you had on the song. There only seem to be a few people there that know about Mediabase. Keep up the good work then! I was going to post something over there on the same lines as you did about requesting as many times as possible between now and Saturday. (I have an account there, but I've posted no more than a handful of times.) kudos to you for having readyfuels on that list haha That was the single that was out when I first got into them in '03 ('04?). I only charted singles at that point; "Glass to the Arson", "Naïve Orleans", "Love Song", "Autobahn", "Foreign Language", and "Cadence" might would have fared the same or better.

"Feel Good Drag" may start to get a few more adds at active rock. Honestly the song sounds like many other songs that do well there. I don't understand how it can be near #1 on alternative but hanging around #50 on active while "Sex On Fire" was able to reach the mid 20s on active...a song that sounds way to indie to be on active rock.

Looks like you beat me by just a few seconds in hitting the "Post Reply" key. Early congrats to Anberlin (we do have to wait until this time Monday morning to call it official) and I'm really happy for their fans. If I ever get into a record store again, I'll have to pick up this album and discover for myself whether they're worth all the fuss; thanks!

^Well Kings Of Leon fans already have gotten to enjoy two number ones, so stop being an asshole. And the attitude that just because something is indie, it's somehow more sophisticated is total bullshit. I think both songs are deserved #1's (unlike "Sex On Fire" which I just didn't get) and it's awesome for both bands' fans that they're getting to enjoy their bands' recent successes (though some fans will inevitably jump ship and call both bands sell outs for having a hit song or two). I bet if I asked you to evaluate what made "Use Somebody" so much higher quality, it wouldn't be quite as obvious objectively as you made it sound...but I'll let you try.

You got all that from one little post? I think you need to calm down a little and stop with the personal attacks. Nowhere did I say I like "Use Somebody" more than "The Feel Good Drag" because it's 'indie' or I think I'm 'sophisticated', so I don't know where you got that from. And as far as justifying why I don't like "The Feel Good Drag" as much as "Use Somebody"... is 'I just don't get it' objective enough for you?

Looks like this will miss out on #1 on Billboard. It took Green Day one day to rack up 1/3 of the audience level that it took Anberlin 6+ months to reach (and 1/5 the spins... good thing the chart week ends on a Sunday, and that "KYE" leaked on Thursday, not Monday); and "FGD" is still about .8M behind KOL in audience.

You're talking about audience, right? 'Cause it really looks like FGD will be #1 in plays and that's what really matters. :) Just look at the difference of spins and compare the bullets of FGD and US on this week's Billboard Modern Rock Tracks: 1 KINGS OF LEON Use Somebody 1825 1787 -38 9.292 2 ANBERLIN Feel Good Drag 1738 1684 +54 8.040 Next week, US drop should be even higher and Anberlin's increase should be about the same. I would say there's a 90% possibility that FGD will be #1 there too.

Wow. What a chart run for FGD.
I have to ask those who have followed the charts more closely (I spent 3 years in Hot AC/Pop, so I haven't followed Alternative as religiously)... but has any song ever taken as long as FGD did to reach #1?
Glad to see these guys hit #1. When I heard Blueprints for the Black Market, I thought "this is pretty good." When Never Take Friendship Personal came out, that's when I thought these guys had a shot at getting big. Congrats to them.

I guess I could be wrong though about audience factoring into it. Where did you get the totals I quoted above? (I see it's "Billboard Modern Rock Tracks", but is there an online source for that?)

But to berate the song in a seemingly objective and "my opinion = fact" kinda manner merits substance to support it or you just come off as an asshole. While my attack on you may be personal, I can at least back it up.

I expected a table with dates and trends, especially from you, Matt. You disappoint me! ;)

Matt,
If you're going to build that chart that crash requested, could you put Sometime around Midnight and Headstrong on there too?
By the way, this table provides a very descriptive way of reviewing progress up the chart. Great idea, this could really catch on.

I could do "Sometime..." as well, but I don't have access to week-by-week spin data for "Headstrong".

Is that good enough for you or would you prefer it if I PMed you my opinion before I post and you can sanitize it to your liking in future? I made perhaps the blandest, least noteworthy post in the history of Pulse and you went off on me and called me an asshole because you didn't like the way I phrased it, so no, I don't think it was justified.
