weekend of 3/6/21:
80s: 3/7/87 90s: 3/9/96
weekend of 3/13/21:
80s: 3/10/84 (previously featured in 2019) 90s: 3/13/99 (previously featured in 2013)
weekend of 3/20/21:
80s: 3/19/88 (previously featured in 2018) 90s: 3/21/98 (previously featured in 2016)
weekend of 3/27/21:
80s: 3/26/83 (previously featured in 2017) 90s: 3/28/92
Notes: The three-week stretch from 2/20 through 3/6 featured all-new charts for both shows. That's the longest such stretch in fourteen months. And unless the 80s countdown deviates from its usual 10-week rotation, we won't see too many more "new" charts over the coming months.

This 1980 chart. UGH. Why? Why not 1985?? If this order of years continues then we should hear the top songs of 1985 in two weeks. To me the early 80s is similar to the early 70s where it seemed to be mostly soul, country, soft rock with a little bit of disco.

Premiere is doing the same year however Sirius XM will likely be doing April 8th, 1972 since the date is always before today's date.

This week’s Back in the Day Replay, from April 12th, 1997 (a repeat from a couple years ago): In fact, this chart has been played four times in seven years. Making it all the most absurd is the fact that 1997 wasn't even due for a few more weeks so it could have easily been avoided.

This week’s Big 40 Countdown, based on the Billboard Hot 100 chart of April 13th, 1985 (thankfully not completely copying Premiere): It doesn't copy Premiere, but it's still the 4th time the VJs have played this chart since 2013. What happens if an act that has been banned on Sirius has a #1 song on an oldies countdown? In this case, Julie Brown just mentioned the song was number one and then announced the show was over. It does sound very disjointed. It reminds me of a time in the 1990s when a local station switched format from CHR to HAC but continued to play Casey's Top 40. But they would cut out rap, hard rock and some heavier dance songs. This included Another Night, while it was #1.

Wheel of Casey...Mark Elliott tribute show! 1/6/79! It’s interesting to hear the guest-hosted shows, mostly because of how rarely they’re played. I’m just so accustomed to Casey’s voice now after a few years of regular listening (I don’t listen to modern AT40 and I’ve only heard a few of the Shadoe-hosted shows). Anyway, here’s that week’s show (I don’t usually put up the random WoC shows, but I don’t think they’ll be playing this show again anytime soon so...): 40 - - CHERYL LYNN - GOT TO BE REAL 39 - - GERRY RAFFERTY - HOME AND DRY 38 15 DONNA SUMMER - MAC ARTHUR PARK 37 - - MELISSA MANCHESTER - DON’T CRY OUT LOUD EXTRA: BEE GEES - HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE 36 39 TALKING HEADS - TAKE ME TO THE RIVER 35 35 THE CARS - MY BEST FRIEND’S GIRL 34 38 KENNY ROGERS - THE GAMBLER 33 37 BOSTON - A MAN I’LL NEVER BE 32 - - BLUES BROTHERS - SOUL MAN 31 - - BARRY MANILOW - SOMEWHERE IN THE NIGHT ARCHIVE: DONNY OSMOND - GO AWAY LITTLE GIRL 30 34 LIVINGSTON TAYLOR - I WILL BE IN LOVE WITH YOU 29 33 DAN HARTMAN - INSTANT REPLAY 28 32 CHANSON - DON’T HOLD BACK 27 40 ROD STEWART - DA YA THINK I’M SEXY? 26 14 AL STEWART - TIME PASSAGES LDD: THE THREE DEGREES - WHEN WILL I SEE YOU AGAIN 25 25 QUEEN - FAT BOTTOMED GIRLS 24 30 LEIF GARRETT - I WAS MADE FOR DANCIN’ 23 06 GINO VANNELLI - I JUST WANNA STOP 22 26 IAN MATTHEWS - SHAKE IT 21 21 CHAKA KHAN - I’M EVERY WOMAN ARCHIVE: ROD STEWART - MAGGIE MAY 20 28 POINTER SISTERS - FIRE 19 23 ACE FREHLEY - NEW YORK GROOVE 18 20 EAGLES - PLEASE COME HOME FOR CHRISTMAS 17 27 NICOLETTE LARSON - LOTTA LOVE 16 22 HOT CHOCOLATE - EVERY 1’S A WINNER EXTRA: GEORGE BENSON - ON BROADWAY 15 18 EARTH, WIND & FIRE - SEPTEMBER 14 17 BOB SEGER & The Silver Bullet Band - WE’VE GOT TONITE 13 19 OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN - A LITTLE MORE LOVE EXTRA: ELVIS PRESLEY - PROMISED LAND 12 12 ALICE COOPER - HOW YOU GONNA SEE ME NOW 11 13 ERIC CLAPTON AND HIS BAND - PROMISES ARCHIVE: CHÉR - GYPSYS, TRAMPS & THIEVES 10 11 LINDA RONSTADT - OOH BABY BABY 09 09 ANDY GIBB - (OUR LOVE) DON’T THROW IT ALL AWAY* 08 10 TOTO - HOLD THE LINE LDD: CHUCK MANGIONE - FEELS SO GOOD 07 08 VILLAGE PEOPLE - Y.M.C.A. 06 07 DR.
