29 (06) ELTON JOHN - CANDLE IN THE WIND*
Seems like it has become a trend for 80s on 8 to play the original recording of songs even if they weren't released in the 80s.
Casey Kasem also played this version of the song on one of his shows from early 1988.

And now for another twist with the Pop 2Kountdown. They PLAYED two songs that featured R.Kelly Yeah, that actually shocked me. I'm personally not against playing R. Kelly songs, but I'm surprised they decided to go ahead and keep them in the countdown. Anyway, this week’s surprisingly-not-rearranged Pop2Kountdown, from February 14th, 2004: 30 (07) Evanescence - My Immortal 29 (09) Britney Spears - Toxic 28 (24) Nick Cannon f/ R. It feels funny especially as he subbed out various songs. I wonder if maybe Pop2k is missing some songs case in point the 2003 countdown two weeks ago.

It feels funny especially as he subbed out various songs. I wonder if maybe Pop2k is missing some songs case in point the 2003 countdown two weeks ago. The two songs just below the top 30 that week (coincidentally the top 2 on that week's country chart) were "Remember When" by Alan Jackson & "American Soldier" by Toby Keith. I've heard both those songs on the P2K at least once, which makes it more surprising to me that they played the R. Kelly features rather than sub those in.

The 1996 countdown was -- yup, you guessed it -- a repeat from two years ago. After a two-week break, the dreaded pattern resumes...

Looks like the 2000s editor screwed up as voiceovers were aired in some of the wrong locations and some even played over the songs.

I think there's only 1 song on the 2000 list that I don't like which has to be a rarity.

Amazingly, 90s on 9 didn't give us a 2020 repeat this week, especially since the year would have been 1995 and that year hasn't been played in a long time. Furthermore, since we got 1992 this week, we won't get a 2020 repeat next week either because they played 3/7/92 back then.
