Why are they now blocking Kanye West? bcuz he’s been saying nothing but anti-Semitic shit these last few months and self-identifies as a nazi.

*”HANG ‘EM HIGH” was mistakenly referred to as the biggest instrumental hit of that week, although the entirely instrumental “SOULFUL STRUT” was at #20 that week (the only instrumental in the top 40 that week)
fun fact: this year they did Dec 21st 1968, last year they did Dec 14th and the year before that, they did Dec 28th. I can't remember which chart they played in 2019, but there was a Dec 1968 survey there too. I get it's kinda necessary, with the Turtles ban and all, but still...
As far as I can tell, this is the last regular survey of the year. Next week will be the Top 40 Transistor-Era Holiday Hits special and the week after that will be the Top 1,000 Hits of the 60s kicking off 2023.

According to SXM’s site (where it posted earlier than expected), the BITDR this week will be 1995, going back to the 2020 repeat cycle one last time this year lol. P2K this week is 2005.

I take it the 80s did not announce next week's featured year. Is the 80s airing a special?

So since Ye & Kelly are both basically blacklisted, how long do you think it'll be until the convicted domestic abuser at #1 is cropped out too? I'm not calling for a Chris Brown ban at all (if it were up to me, I'd play the countdowns as listed in BB), I'm just making an observation...

It's a shame Donny Hathaway's "This Christmas" didn't make it... and not even listed in the voting either. I tried, but one write-in vote can only do so much.
So, contrary to what I was led to believe last week, there IS a survey coming next week and it's another special: the Top 50 Artists of the '60s according to Billboard! Until then, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I take it the 80s did not announce next week's featured year. Is the 80s airing a special? It's been many years since they did a regular countdown over New Years. It makes sense, given that the Hot 100 was always frozen during that weekend, however their "specials" are generally not worth listening to. They tend to be a random mish-mash of songs that loosely fit a certain theme.

I bet pop2k will play the top 100 of the 2000s. Though it may be a bit more weird now that they black listed Ye.

I keep thinking they aired this chart in 2011 as well. It was 2013. In 2011, they were still using Cashbox.

Listening to the 80s and it sounds like they are not airing the big 40. Alan announced earlier that it will be playing tomorrow. It seems like it'll be more of a playlist based off suggestions from their Facebook page rather than a proper top 40 list so I won't be listening.

The first big 40 of 2023 should be either 1980 or 1986.

I think it’s safe to assume that the VJs aren’t airing a countdown of any kind at all for a couple good reasons. One being it’s a holiday and everyone is out and second, it is hard to pick through regular countdown with no movement in the charts. After all, Alan hunter mentioned this “so called party countdown” is not going to be ranked.

They could have reran the big 1,000 from a few years ago at least that would be something since the 70s aired the top 1,000 and the sixties will air a top 1,000. Maybe sometime 90s and pop2k will do a top 1,000. Or they should do another "It" for those of you who had XM before they merged.
