I think it’s safe to assume that the VJs aren’t airing a countdown of any kind at all for a couple good reasons. One being it’s a holiday and everyone is out and second, it is hard to pick through regular countdown with no movement in the charts. After all, Alan hunter mentioned this “so called party countdown” is not going to be ranked. They could have reran the big 1,000 from a few years ago at least that would be something since the 70s aired the top 1,000 and the sixties will air a top 1,000. Maybe sometime 90s and pop2k will do a top 1,000. Or they should do another "It" for those of you who had XM before they merged. Yeah or being more creative here but why not do something different other than party. Like 80s hits that never made the top 40 but should have.

These are just the top 10 of every Year-End Hot 100 survey of that decade (minus R. Kelly, whose "I Believe I Can Fly" would've been #53 if included here), with the songs being played in ascending order (the #10s of the 90s, then the #9s, the #8s, etc). That's how LeAnn Rimes' "How Do I Live" ended up being placed twice, as it appeared in the top 10 on both the '97 & '98 YE lists (as did Elton John's "Candle in the Wind 1997", but thankfully that was a double-sided hit).

Sounds like we might be introduced with two years on Friday, that is if the VJs (Mark, Alan, or Nina) don’t announce it by tomorrow. We’ll know about the year they go with the night of the first airing and right after that airing is over with.

P2K finally going back to 2008 for the first time in SIX MONTHS this week (as the year starts over so we’ll be hearing some songs from 6 weeks ago rather than late ‘08 hits lol)

Instead of the year-end stuff (and whatever 80s did) would've preferred last week each show did the last weekend of the decade and this week do the first week of the decade (like 80s did). Would've been interesting to hear at least.

We sort of got to hear the end of the 80s with the December 2nd, 1989 show which aired the beginning of December so we would be hearing most of the same songs for the last week of the 80s.

They should have went with December 14 1985 instead of December 21 1985, and now they are going with January 11, 1986. It almost sounds like they went with December 21 intentionally so that they could set the charts closer together. This happens every end/beginning of the new year, so it’s no surprise.

AT40 this week is 1973! 90s this week is 1999. It comes just less than a month after they did '98, but they haven't gone back to January '99 in a few years, so I'm good with this! (It's also another case of how I wish the BITDR was top 40, as Prince's 1999 re-entered at #40 that week. I think it'd be kinda funny to hear that on 90s on 9)

One thing that sucks about the 3 week gap 98-99 is the 98 chart was the week before "Goodbye" by the Spice Girls debuted. The week they're gonna do the song falls 11-27. Would've loved to have heard it here.

Tonights wheel of Casey was 2/23/74. And it kicks off with a novelty record from Dickie Goodman.

Would've loved to have heard it here. It always happens that we get some charts that are only three weeks apart. I think it happens in the 60s and 70s too.

This happens on other decade channels. It would be more logical to have a November 85 countdown then have a January 86 countdown.
