I hope and pray that if they air 1986 the following week, the Sept 6, 1986 chart is used. Or otherwise, we’ll get a repeat of Sept 13 for the third year in a row and that is not ideal at all.

We are in that stretch where the program director for 80s on 8 is reshuffling the years for the big 40. I am pretty sure the month of September 1986 has been played except for September 20th.

Was it before they switched to billboard charts in 2012?

Except for September 6th, 1986, all of September and October have been played. With the show going on for fourteen years we gotta be using up all the possibilities for new charts.

I’d like to see fresh new charts for 1986 (hopefully) in the rest of the 2023 calendar year. Just an fyi this is the only year for 2023 that has already used charts from past years, 2 of which were used the prior year (Apt 5 and June 14). Here is what hasn’t been aired yet. Sept 6 Oct 11 Nov 15, 22 Dec 13, 27

They just announced this weeks countdown as August 31, 1984 I wish they would get it right again. I think it’s about time to send a complaint to the programmers

AT40 this week is 1978, the first time they’re airing a guest-hosted show outside of the Wheel of Casey afaik 90s this week is 1996. P2K still TBD. With the double sided you learn/you oughta know they played you oughta know. Not sure why this always confuses them. Same thing happens with Jewel when foolish games became the lead in 97 with YWMFM as the flip side

With the double sided you learn/you oughta know they played you oughta know. Not sure why this always confuses them. Same thing happens with Jewel when foolish games became the lead in 97 with YWMFM as the flip side I don't mind that they played " You Oughta Know" this time, I honestly wish they'd play the flip side of double-sided hits more often, especially for the longer-charting hits (" You're Makin' Me High" & " Before You Walk Out of My Life" come to mind) Anyway, here's this week’s Back in the Day Replay, from August 31st, 1996: 30 26 La Bouche - Sweet Dreams 29 30 Garbage - Stupid Girl28 24 Alanis Morissette - Ironic 27 23 Celine Dion - Because You Loved Me (Theme from “Up Close & Personal”)26 DE Whitney Houston - Why Does It Hurt So Bad25 DE SWV - Use Your Heart 24 22 Mariah Carey - Always Be My Baby 23 25 Natalie Merchant - Jealousy22 19 Total - Kissin’ You 21 20 Monica - Why I Love You So Much 20 21 Maxi Priest ft. Shaggy - That Girl19 18 Jann Arden - Insensitive 18 15 Dishwalla - Counting Blue Cars 17 17 No Mercy - Where Do You Go 16 16 112 ft. The Notorious B.I.G. & Mase - Only You (Bad Boy Remix) 15 13 OutKast - Elevators (Me & You) 14 14 Celine Dion - It’s All Coming Back to Me Now 13 12 Jewel - Who Will Save Your Soul 12 09 2Pac ft. K-Ci & JoJo - How Do U Want It 11 11 Alanis Morissette - You Oughta Know 10 10 Tracy Chapman - Give Me One Reason 09 08 R. Kelly - I Can’t Sleep Baby (If I)08 06 Toni Braxton - You’re Makin’ Me High 07 07 Eric Clapton - Change the World 06 06 Quad City DJ’s - C’Mon N’ Ride It (The Train) 05 03 LL Cool J - Loungin (Who Do Ya Luv Remix) 04 04 Keith Sweat - Twisted 03 DE New Edition - Hit Me Off 02 02 Donna Lewis - I Love You Always Forever 01 01 Los Del Rio - Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix)

In the almost fifteen years sirius xm has aired American top 40 Is this the first time they aired an episode with a guest host? (Let's pretend Wheel of Casey doesn't count) According to LVK over on the AT40 forum, there was at least one other show that XM aired back in 2007 back when they aired 80s AT40. They played May 26th '84, hosted by Charlie Van Dyke. Anyway, here's this week’s American Top 40, featuring guest host Larry McKay, from September 2nd, 1978: *the chart positions for 37, 35 & 30 were mixed up somehow, so I’ve listed them in the order they were played with their proper movements. 40 DE CRYSTAL GAYLE - TALKING IN YOUR SLEEP 39 DE THE MOODY BLUES - STEPPIN’ IN A SLIDE ZONE38 DE AEROSMITH - COME TOGETHER 35 37 CHERYL LADD - THINK IT OVER 36 38 GERRY RAFFERTY - RIGHT DOWN THE LINE 30 39 BARBRA STREISAND - LOVE THEME FROM “EYES OF LAURA MARS” (PRISONER) 34 35 FOXY - GET OFF 33 34 THE KINKS - A ROCK ’N’ ROLL FANTASY 32 32 THE CARS - JUST WHAT I NEEDED 31 33 ROBIN GIBB - OH! There was less than a year where we had Casey Kasem on 80's on 8 after the merger. Well at least we get to hear songs from late 1988 and 1989 plus sometimes there are "one week wonders" such as Cure's Just Like heaven that we would not get to hear if we went back to Casey Kasem.
