They probably don't wanna play the random country songs in the 20s anymore.

Might be ideal for to go with 1981 next week and I bet they will go with 1/31/81 which would be a brand new chart aired in a month. I don’t know if they’ll switch things up again anytime soon, let alone another Presidents’ Day countdown to back things up. February 1983 and 1986 has been underplayed so I strongly think those two years will air next month. They did March 5th 1983 last year so hopefully we don't get a repeat of that chart They did this week as 1982 instead of 1986 will be next week.

4 weeks after December 1995. Lots of repeat songs. Not only that, but they managed to play five 1995 shows in the second half of 2023, three of which were 4-time repeats. At least this week's 1996 show was not a repeat from the past two years. Now it seems sometimes we can go back in this thread thirty or forty pages to see what will be played this week on pop2k or 90s.

The shortening of the pop2kountdown is ridiculous. I totally agree, but this is the norm with radio nowadays. Any shows that deviate from the normal playlist seem to be considered "risky" by the people in charge. A lot of SiriusXM's countdown shows have been retooled (for the worse) in recent years, as have countdown shows from other platforms. You may even remember way back in 2004 when Casey Kasem's AC countdown changed from a top 20 to a top 10. The way I see it, anything that we music lovers think of as fun to hear, the radio people see as bad for ratings. In other news, the 1999 chart was last heard eight years ago, so at least that one wasn't an overdone repeat. And, both the 80s and 90s countdowns contained songs called Heartbreak Hotel.

I wonder if they will do the President's Day special again like last year. Not counting on doing a regular 80s countdown at all, but we will see. Maybe they'll push 1986 aside for March? Ideally March 15 or March 22, 1986 haven't been aired since 2012 and 2013, respectively, or if they decide to do it next weekend could get Feb 15, 1986, which has never been aired to my knowledge.

I highly doubt we get a president's day special and 86 is likely next after 82 but they would go with the 22nd

If they can do 1988 the last weekend in Feb or first week in March, that would be awesome, which would avoid the overplayed Mar 12 and 19 charts. 1983 the last weekend in Feb would also be ideal as Feb 1983 is underplayed and would yield a new chart.

If they can do 1988 the last weekend in Feb or first week in March, that would be awesome, which would avoid the overplayed Mar 12 and 19 charts. 1983 the last weekend in Feb would also be ideal as Feb 1983 is underplayed and would yield a new chart. It should go 83, 85 then 88 so we may end up with March 12th but they could always mix up the order

It will probably be something like 86 83 88 or 85 then 1980 and 1987.

Maybe they’ll go with February 15th tonight call it February 14, and consider it a valentines special, but I’m not hopeful this will happen.
