Source is the official web site of 3 Doors Down and Fuse.
I video aired this morning on Fuse. It's a new song recorded for the upcoming Olympic games. A fast paced rocker that is more radio-friendly than Train, but fresher than the lame It's Not My Time. All proceeds go to team U.S.A.

Not to start another one of these arguments or anything. But I don't see anywhere based on your sources that this is the next single. Just because there's a video doesn't mean it's a single (see: Citizen Soldier).
Anyway, the song's ok. I can see why it didn't make the album though.

I think "Train" is actually a great single in terms of what it's trying to accomplish. The songs you suggested would just get all the same people who already like "It's Not My Time" further on board with the album. "Train" on the other hand gives that message that "Citizen/Soldier" was no fluke and 3 Doors Down can still be hard when we wanna be. In order to maintain their hard rock cred, a song like "Train" is necessary. Once "Train" dies off, they can release whatever poppy 3rd single they want a la "Be Like That" or "Here Without You" or "Away From The Sun" and still get away with it.

The point wasn't that 3DD was hard, the point was that they made quality hard tracks (Duck and Run, Kryptonite).

Train has surprised me. Granted it could still really take off on rock, but I thought it would do so much better than it is, such as multiple weeks at #1 on Active. I guess maybe it's just not with the times, a little bit too much of a throwback. I do prefer Give it To Me over Train though, talking about "hard" 3DD songs, and it is my favorite from the album (and it better be a single!). Not sure why they'd release this and divert attention away from the main singles (and therefore the album), seems like a bad idea to me. It's a good song though, like usual.

I don't think Train is much of a throwback; it reminds me of Black Stone Cherry. I think if they released something like "Right Where I Belong" earlier, it would have braced them for a single like this later on.

Well Train does have that strong southern rock tone, which really hasn't been that popular in a long time. That's why I said maybe it was too much of a throwback.
