Google and XM have announced a deal for Google's new automated radio advertising system to provide commercials on the satcaster's non-music channels. Google AdWords customers will be able to use the dMarc system for the placement of ads on XM. The system is expected to be in place by the fourth quarter of 2006. The companies said that they hoped the deal could help XM bring in new revenue while also lowering the costs involved with advertising. "XM is excited about the opportunity to leverage Googleβs extensive advertising base to open up a new revenue stream while providing marketers with a new way to reach consumers in an environment of compelling content and limited commercial loads,β said D. Scott Karnedy, XM SVP of Sales and Marketing Solutions. βThis partnership with XM Satellite Radio will provide a powerful marketing and distribution tool for Google advertisers,β added Ryan Steelberg, Head of Radio Operations for Google. βBy providing access to XMβs premier satellite audience, Google advertisers will have an easy way to target, schedule, deliver and measure satellite radio campaigns in a timely and efficient manner.β Just last week, it was revealed that Google and Greater Media had signed a one-year deal to use the dMarc automated ad service. Also, Google CEO Eric Schmidt said last month that he expected the service will be up and running "within three months." SOURCE

Only on the music stations. The Talk stations have always had commercials, have to give those personalities a bathroom break sometime you know.
