Beyonce and Gaga lost 202 and 117 spins today respectively. There are only 94 spins between Taylor and #1. Looks good yall! HA.

Go Taylor! As long as she gets it tomorrow, I don't care if she free-falls after.

I knew this would sneak into #1. Talk about perfect timing though, it should be #1 Sunday, right in time for the charts.

She really isn't very established there though. One top twenty CHR hit does not a pop staple make. I still think this is just far too boring for CHR to want to play. No way this will outdo Teardrops on CHR, or even Our Song for that matter. I knew this would sneak into #1. Talk about perfect timing though, it should be #1 Sunday, right in time for the charts. Mhmm...

Mhmm... That was way back when the song first came out, I've already admitted I was way off about it back then. I meant more recently. Everyone's been saying that it wasn't gonna go #1, but I've thought it would for a good month or so.

Really glad it's doin so well but Love Story (pop mix) really doesn't seem Country at all to me...seems like it could've been a hit by Jordin Sparks IMO It sold 95% of its total before the Pop Mix was even released and the Pop Mix never charted higher than the original. The mix didn't have anything to do with this songs success digitally. Yeah...was referring to the pop mix breakin CHR airplay stats Not surprised about the country mix gettin a lot of downloads...pretty sure Rascal Flatts got tons of downloads when their big singles came out (esp. Life Is A Highway I think)

Yeah it's kind of ridiculous that it's getting all these "First country song to..." accolades because it is 100% a pop song. Just because a redneck sings it doesn't make it country. The song was all over country radio before pop touched it (and it hit #1 there). Yeah just think all the hype about a country song gettin so much CHR play is kinda overrated cause CHRs play the pop mix which IMO sounds like Jordin Sparks, etc. Still really glad it's doin so well though

Yeah...was referring to the pop mix breakin CHR airplay stats Oh, since you quoted the post where it said Love Story was the best selling digital Country single ever now I assumed you were talking about it's digital success. As far as radio and airplay stats are concerned that's an issue in itself. Is there a way to see which version every single radio station that is monitored is playing? I'll bet that a lot if not more are playing the original mix.

Yeah if CHR stations were playin the original mix that would def. change a lot IMO (in terms of legit CHR country airplay stats)...Only thing is very few CHRs played the original mix of Teardrops On My Guitar I think (thinkin mostly medium-small market stations in the South) - but not sure how u tell (even yes.com doesn't tell ya which mix the station's playin) Oh yeah also looked back and ur right they were talkin bout digital sales...still figure though that the initial downloads of the original mix spawned a steady stream of downloads of the pop mix...wonderin if I-Tunes differentiates the two, or if there's any way to tell...

We once had a radio station programmer that posted here frequently and said that he would play the original mix of Love Story but wasn't going to touch the mix because it was horrible. Obviously he doesn't represent every radio programmer but I would think most would play the better version of the song (hope at least). Well the pop mix of Love Story was only added to Itunes like two weeks ago or so and by that point the original mix was already well on its way to breaking the (digital) record without the help of the mix (which never charted really well). The mix probably accounts for about 25% of Love Story's sales the past few weeks.

^Oh yeah in that case that country digital sales thing is completely legit (whoops...) IMO still gotta assume though that most major CHRs are playin the pop mix of Love Story - had to drive to Boston a while back (and FL too), and only place I heard country mix of LS was the Carolinas - it'd def. be interestin to find out though...

At least where I'm at here in SoCal, all of the CHR and Hot AC stations on "Love Story" are playing the remix...

See and they play the original mix in my area. It would be really interesting to see the stats on that whole situation. Either way this was originally a Country release with the mix or not. Shania's That Don't Impress Me Much is still seen as a Country song and it was much more pop than Love Story IMO.

According to AllAccess as of Saturday morning (2/14), Taylor Swift is #1. It looks like this will be the first #1 song by a country artist on the CHR/Pop chart in almost 28 years, when Kenny Rogers was #1 with "Lady" (Nov-Dec 1980).
Please note: I am not including Tim McGraw, as he was not the lead artist on "Over And Over," which wasn't even a country song. I suppose you could argue that McGraw would be the most recent artist to accomplish this feat, but it would at least need to be an asterisked point.
Please also note, I am not including pop artists who have gone on to have hit(s) on the country chart, such as Bon Jovi, Jewel, Jessica Simpson and Darius Rucker.

I can confirm that NYC's Z100 plays the pop mix of this one (as it did the pop mix of "Teardrops"). VH-1 played the original mix the first week the video was added to its rotation, but has been playing the pop mix since, if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, congrats to Taylor, her fans and Universal on hitting #1 on this format as well.

I wish we could gather a list of which version every station in America plays and break it down just so that people couldn't have any angle to try and take anything away from her.
