I think I'm one of the oldest members here at Pulse, and I think it's quite exciting to see the only country song in my lifetime to hit #1 on Pop.

I wish we could gather a list of which version every station in America plays and break it down just so that people couldn't have any angle to try and take anything away from her. I wish we could. people are always trying to take away her credits... >:( never heard of that Jason whosoever remix before.....

DC's Hot99.5 only played the original mix for quite a good time. In January I started to hear the Pop mix sometimes in the morning, but at night I would only hear the country original version. Whereas DC's HotAC station, Mix 107.3 has only played the Pop mix. As I said before, TDIMM was much more Pop than LS and it was one of the milestones to consider when checking Country songs' success in CHR/Pop, so I don't get the doubts on LS. Congrats to Taylor!! Very nice song and great achievement for a Country artist

Yeah, Boston plays the pop mix, Connecticut stations play the Jason Nevins dance mix, and AC stations around here play the pop mix too. I just think it's kind of shanty that there's three versions floating around so PDs can have their pick of what sound of the song best fits their station. Just kind of annoying that the label pushes alternatives to appeal to different markets to increase commercial success. Regardless of how it was done, though, a #1 is a #1, and congrats is in order on the achievement. I didn't mean to discount TAYLOR, I'm just saying the label is shady.

^Yeah it's def. an accomplishment for TS!! Just pretty sure there's no way the original version (i. e. country-style version) could've hit #1 CHR w/o so many stations playin the pop mix
But it's def. the first CHR #1 by a Country artist since I guess Kenny Rogers in the early 80s
Just weird to think of it that way though IMO cause to me Love Story pop mix doesn't sound country at all (the way You're Still The One, Breathe, Amazed, Islands In The Stream, even Teardrops On My Guitar, etc. did)

Ew the pop mix is terrible. It's hard to imagine that this song hit #1 with the help of that.

My station played the original. It's pretty obvious most people preferred the original since the pop mix never got higher than the 30's on iTunes and then fell off shortly after.

I think most fans preferred the original...prob. is though in major urban areas where country doesn't do so well the original country mix would cause too many listeners to change the station (I'm guessin...) - even in ATL where country has pretty high ratings, both CHRs are playin the pop mix

Well, remixes never chart well in general on iTunes. Most consumers probably didn't bother to compare and contrast and just went for the most obvious version.

Trying to claim that the majority of Love Story's success comes from the remix is, well, ridiculous. But I guess everyone has their angles.

I still don't think it really matters which mix got the most play at CHR, because whether it's the original or the "pop" version, both are more pop than they are country, imo. Still doesn't take away from this being a great achievement, but it is a good part of the reason why this was able to do what hasn't been done in 30 years,

oh well, You're Still The One and The Way You Loved Me had both pop mixes, even This Kiss, and you're considering them as Country songs.
I think Love Story is still as country as those songs

I actually like the pop mix more than the original. Probably, because I'm not a big fan of country.

Is it just me or do the Original and the Pop Mix sound exactly the same except for the 10 second instrumental intro? Don't understand what all the fuss is about.

I think they sound so different, haha. The original has such a light breezy feeling to it while the remix makes it sound a lot rougher. They completely took out the banjo and violin in the Pop mix (two of the most vital elements of the original if you ask me).

Yeah the original is so much better than the pop mix. Unfortunately, they both have the same awful lyrics.

At least on the radio (since Kiss 108 plays the remix), I can really only tell the difference if I hear the very beginning of the song. The verses and chorus sound identical. ;)

Congrats on the #1! This song deserved it. And I love the pop mix! I think it is way better than the original.

Congrats to Taylor on a #1 Country crossover!!! It's been 28 years since a song topped both the Country and the pop chart... WOW!
