It seems like just about every other artist is coming out with some sort of greatest hits or best of collection this Fall. Add Chicane to that list. Chicane (a.k.a. Nick Bracegirdle) first came to prominence with the song "Offshore" in 1996. "Sunstroke" was the followup and its chart performance was similar. A bootleg mashup of "Offshore" and Power Circle's "A Little Love, A Little Life" by Anthony Pappa was later released. These singles plus "Lost You Somewhere" and "Red Skies" made up Chicane's first album Far From The Maddening Crowds.
The second album Behind The Sun was preceded by "Strong In Love" featuring Sylvia Mason James, "Saltwater" featuring Maire Brennan and "Don't Give Up" featuring Bryan Adams. "Strong I Love" was a standalone release."Saltwater" was based on a sample from Clannad's "Theme From Harry's Game." This came out in 1999 overseas. "Don't Give Up" came out in 2000. "No Ordinary" Morning" and "Autumn Tactics" featuring Justine Suissa followed.
Chicane parted ways with Xtravaganza after a lawsuit. A third album entitled Easy To Assemble never saw a proper legal release after it leaked widely on the internet in 2003. "Love On The Run" was a single and "Locking Down" was promoted.
Some of the tracks on that album became the basis for the fourth album Somersault. Some songs were reworked and were included. "Stoned In Love" featuring Tom Jones on vocals was the first single in 2006. "Come Tomorrow" was the second single in 2007. There was talk of "Spirit" featuring Jewel being a single in the early part of 2008 but it never materialized. An extremely limited single featuring a remix by Wawa and a rework by Nick himself was made available.
In 2006, a mashup of Natasha Bedingfield's "I Bruise Easily" and "Saltwater" began to make the rounds on the internet and earlier this year, it was properly re-created and released.
This collection features the majority of his singles, however there are some obvious omissions.
"Wake Up" (featuring Keane) is one of the main new songs.
According to the Discogs entry of the promo edition, most of the songs are radio edit length but some are full length.
This will be released on October 6, 2008 in the UK.
