Personally, I think this song is horrible and gives a lot of people the idea that Ashlee Simpson is vocally talentless, which isn't always the case, but it is on this song...and the video is terrible. Or was it her hair...

I just saw the video and was pretty disappointed. It looks like it was made on just $5.
The "party" concept reminded me of Kelly Clarkson's "Miss Independent" which Ashlee said a couple years ago that she didn't want to duplicate. Ironically, the video that started playing right after Ashlee was Miss Independent.

She looks awful in the video. Her hair is hideous. Anyways, this is really growing on me. It gets stuck in your head pretty fast. I dunno if it's just me, but I think the bridge is one of the best parts of the song, apart from the chorus. The verses are bad though.

"Boyfriend" peaked at number 20 on pop. On the hot 100, it was somewhere between #11-15. Not really sure where though.

lmao, this was dumped by 97% on my station. This got the second worst reaction to a song EVER at my station behind LL's "Confessions of a broken heart" which was dumped by 99%.

I think artists like Lindsay Lohan and Ashlee Simpson will get dumped on no matter how good their songs are, they just don't have any credibility as a musician/singer and if they ever did have it (which I don't think they did), they lost it a long time ago. I listened to the first 20 seconds of the remix and couldn't take anymore of it, and I managed to hear the last 20 seconds on the radio which was actually surprisingly catchy. Maybe someday I'll hear this in full. |
